Output question......

Macy is 8 months, and without mincing words...she poohs ALOT! On a normal day (when she hasn't gotten into something she shouldn't...like 14 homemade cookies), she will have 4-6 bowel movements. Her stools are solid (thank goodness), so that isn't the problem. It just seems that compared to what goes in...there is a lot coming out. I wonder if this could be due to not absorbing/digesting much of what she eats? I am currently feeding Eagle Pack Natural and she gets 3 cups a day (1.5 in am and 1.5 in pm). In the morning, I also put about a tablespoon of cottage cheese on her kibble (which she goes bonkers for). Other than that, she gets a few treats throughout the day, but no table scraps.

In comparison, my berner Jack has 2 BMs on an average day.

Am wondering if this seems extreme to you all? She seems to have a sensitive stomach compared to my berner, so I am cautious about changing her food...but if she is just pooping it all out, perhaps I should consider?

What is typical output for a Newf??

That does seem like a lot of times. I think Eloise went more as a puppy though than she does now, but maybe 3 times, definitely not 6.

I feed Eagle and mine are usually twice a day poopers. Small amounts, nice and firm. On days I give them a pig ear they MIGHT go an extra time, but not always.
I do believe the 'natural' formula has corn in it. Maybe try switching to one of the holistic corn free Eagle formulas and see if things change......

Thanks guys! Anita, good point about the corn, it is actually the 3rd ingredient listed. I will try a corn-free formula...as I know dogs generally don't digest corn well.

Hope that's the trick! It seems like I've gone from 1 to 3+ dogs in the poop patrol department rather than 1 to 2!

Hope that works for ya Lor. My guys are on Eagle Pack and they all go about 2 times a day. 6 times does seem excessive.

Now... Why haven't we seen more pics of our little Macy girl??

The next time I see her... She'll be all grow'd up!! :(

Is she eating anything outside? Until I fenced them off, Merlin was eating the hedges and pooped numerous times a day. Seems like every time I put the shovel away, he went again. Once I fenced off the hedges he went down to 2-3x a day.

Jane...that is a loaded question!! Macy is a poop eater. Though, in the last few weeks, I have been taking her out on leash because she has regressed in her housebreaking, so I am starting from scratch and take her out on leash so that I can praise her like crazy. It also keeps her out of the poop (I clean the yard daily, but she was still manageing to find tidbits). Anyway, she is still going 4-6 times a day and she isn't eating anything in the yard. Since Anita mentioned corn...I'm am thinking that is probably the culprit. I will be changing her food to see if that improves things.

Sue, I will post new pics in the photo section!
