Our Foster Dog, Bart

I haven't spoken much about the little boy, but Russell & I just returned from driving Bart to his new home in Mansfield, Ohio. His new family consists of a Mom & Dad and their 2 girls (preteen, and very excited, and polite), a dog named corky, 3 house cats. He's living on a 100 acre farm with a large fenced in yard, and a pond! Sounds like Newf Heaven to me!

We're a little blue here... Kira especially... it seems that Bart may have been her soul-mate!

Bart is now about 11 months old. He's been with us just 4 weeks. He's a little spitfire, very bright and loveable, and will make his new family a wonderful pet!

Godspeed Bart.... I already miss you my little man....

Dear Annie & Family,
It must take an abundant heart to foster a Newf, or a child for that matter. I applaud you and Russell and your pets for opening your home & your hearts for just enough time to fall in love with the visitor, then find the perfect home and send them off. I admire you all.

I agree - to all the rescuers in our midst, what very special people you are. It takes a generous heart to bring a dog into your home and nurse it back to health, both mentally and physically, but it takes a much more enormous heart to then place it with a forever family. The blessings are twofold, happy family and happy dog. You are truly remarkable and I, for one, appreciate your efforts.

Annie I KNOW just how you feel.
It was so hard to see Bear leave. But knowing he has a wonderful home makes it all worth while. :D

Now in about 3 weeks Smokie will go to her new home. :( That means Smokie will be with us 6 weeks and 2 days. She has become one of the "girls". Seeing her go will be a bitter sweet day, but knowing she will only be going about a 5 minute drive from our house makes me VERY happy :D :D

I can only imagine the mixed emotions you as foster moms must go through. Your unselfishness in opening up your home to a needy newf goes a long way to the poor newf that needs a forever, loving, home!

I will always say how generous both your families are and give you lots of credit.
Another bittersweet moment for rescue. Its even better to hear they are staying local. Hopefully you will see them at some SCNC events.

ps Jeannie Chancey Bear is right at my feet, I just gave him a HUGE hug for you. I get choked up knowing how much you miss him.

Everytime I read the rescue stories - from both sides - I tear up. It is such a tremendous quality to have a heart large enough and unselfish enough to bring these noble animals into your homes, care for them, love them, and be able to let them go so others may enjoy, care for, and experience the love of a Newf. I honestly could not do it - I am too selfish.

Thank you to all of you who do this.

Guinness, Chance is here over 2 mths. Fostered by Jeannie. I never mean to get teary eyed, but can't help it. I know what everyone went through to get him a good home and I will live it every day.
Leaving with him was very hard on both of us.
I still look to her for guidance and will never loose touch. Chance has a forever home and through him, I have forever friends.
Every time I look at Chance "Bear" I remember our first moment at Jeannie & Gary's
All I can say is I love him to pieces, so do they and thankful for them we can share special moments.
