Our 4th of July Weekend

This was Fiona's first trip to the cottage. She did so well. The property is not fenced in but she stuck close and didn't wander off at all. When we arrived, I showed Fiona the lake. Now, Eden is 12 1/2 years old. We are on a hill so I did not expect Eden to join us...but, the spirit is willing, unfortunately, the body is weak. Eden made it down to the lake, it was getting back up hill that was the challenge.

Here are some pics:

As mentioned, Eden joined us down at the lake. They both loved cooling off. And, I got an awesome ball that Fiona just loves and it is buoyant.

So, now it came time to get Eden up the hill. It was a struggle and a slow process. Finally, my brother arrived and he suggested getting her under a blanked or tarp and we lift/drag her up the hill. So, that's what this picture is. We got the blanket under her and my brother pulled while I lifted from behind and together we got her back up top.

The rest of the weekend I made sure Eden stayed up top but I also made sure I spent time with her. So, here we were just hanging out at the top of the hill.

Another first for Fiona...a ride on the pontoon.

And finally, just a profile of Fiona.

Oh my goodness - bless sweet Eden's heart!!! I love that she got a chance to cool off, but good idea keeping her up top the rest of the weekend. That couldn't have been fun for anyone getting her back up the hill.

I bet she was so happy going down to the water! Have you thought about those Helps Em up harnesses? Really good. I loved reading all about your weekend and the pics are great.

Eden just wants to be with you...so glad you didn't leave her behind. What a great time at the lake for the dogs.

Hmmm. There must be an easier way so that Eden could join you at the water's edge. I keep thinking of those magic carpet lifts on ski hills which probably would be too expensive to be practical. Would a wagon work? With a pulley system? Or a sled that would slide more easily?

Anyway, lovely photos. Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves.
