Asking for any info/advice or help from anyone who has had this diagnosis with their Newfoundland. Especially if it is associated with the hocks. If you have any information of definitive diagnosis, treatment or possible surgery it would be greatly appreciated. Helping a club member through this as best as possible. THANKS in advance.

I only know about it in it's human form ( see many x-rays in our Radiology dept)....often leads to osteo arthritis. Rest is often the first line of treatment and not doing anything that causes the pain........I would say the usual glucosamnine/chondroiton/green lipped mussels and Vit C would also be a good idea as preventative. In the human world they do follow up x-rays to check if it is "healing". Crating and limited walking.....

If there is a vet who does arthroscopy, the end of the bone could be "tidied".......

My Kramer had OCD of the shoulders. Fortunately, I've no experience with the hocks. I tried the crate rest and NSAID route first. Ultimately he had surgery where a piece of the broken off cartilage was removed and the area debrided. He got Adequan injections after the surgery. Fabulous outcome - never limped again. The problem with waiting to remove the malformed cartilage is the joint damage that continues. That ends up causing more arthritis down the road. Hope this helps a bit...

Indy had OCD in both shoulders. Tried the rest and medications, but ultimately had to do surgery on both shoulders. She was like a new puppy immediately after the surgery.

I would think can be done the minimally invasive route arthroscopically. I've only had experience with it in shoulder.
