Here is the list so far of everyone that's coming, we figured we'd start a new thread so the food list would be on the first page.

DawnMerie=Baked Ziti & tortilla's and chips & cheese cake squares
Dawn C.
Jessica=Pulled Pork & something else???
Stacy=Sweet potato casserole and couscous salad...I can make punch too
Jeff and Diane
Deb and Dan
Donna and Eric
Julianna
Megan and Todd

Does anyone have any food allergies that we have to be aware of? I know Donna H. is gluten-free ( I believe) but if there is anything else we should be aware of, just let us know.

It looks like we have two main dishes so far, and since there isn't going to be a full house, we could order pizza Friday night, and have the big dinner on Saturday, if that's ok with everyone.

DawnMerie offered earlier to bring breakfast things, and have everyone give a few bucks towards that. That's usually Sat. and Sun. or until it all runs out.

I think at this point, we just need yay's or nay's as to what everyone agrees to, and we can update the above list. Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to what we can do-maybe some games with the dogs or what-not?

I heard a few have cancelled.

Donna and Eric
Jeff and Diane
Deb and Dan

Not positive about Jeff and Diane, but the other two can't make it.

Is everyone familiar with clicker training? I think it would be fun to share what tricks our dogs have learned and dog swap to teach the dogs new tricks. I would love to give Dawn my dog so she could teach him the "shush" command. Chumley just learned the "high five" from someone who was just playing around with him. I saw in the newspaper this am an article on halloween parties with dogs. It made mention of bobbing for frozen hot dogs (though it never made mention if they sink or float) ,apples, and tennis balls.

Funny Stacy I was thinking the same thing about bobbing for hot dogs....but I'm not sure either, when I get home tonight, I'll put it to the test, but who has a giant bucket? So, if I teach Chumley to whisper....what are you gonna teach my two?? Cause it's 2 for one--:p

I can teach them how to steal and get rewarded for it! Actually, that one got engrained before I could reverse it. How about "back up" with hand signal? It might be hard to find one your dogs don't know. Don't forget treat tidbits or my dog won't budge.

Can we bring some wine or is this a dry event?

**** eta I need to reread what I type! I meant "a dry event" ... Not an angry one!

My bottle of wine is already packed and my sweet potato casserole has Kahlua as an ingredient! Which reminds me...my mom (Sharon) is coming again this year (the one with the broken chicken wing, compliments of Chumley), and she will be bringing turkey noodle soup. She'll bring styrofoam cups and plastic spoons for the cups. Should be good on a cold night. The weather looks to be around 70 and sunny, but I'm sure the nights will be chilly.
For those packing...we found it really useful to bring the rubber boots. You don't get sand in your shoes and it won't much matter if your dog drags you into the waves a bit. I'll be coming in on Thursday just because I really, really need a vacation.

Bobbing for hot dogs does work. Our local club did this Saturday. They threw 6 pieces of hotdogs in - they did sink and they were thawed. Whoever got all 6 in the shortest amount of time, won. Scuba was at the grooming table, but Diver tried it. No hotdogs but he did get his face and front paws in the bucket. lol

Storm.. Hurricane Sandy. Might be a direct hit right around OC MD to Cape May NJ, or hug and travel up the coast. Either way...rain and wind. Or big rain and wind.

Here are three "model" projections for landfall for the mid-Atlantic (OC to Cape May), Portland Maine, or Boston.

NOAA is still showing it tracking offshore, but that will still mean rain for OC. If you want to look up the weather for Ocean City, the zip is 21842.

Soooo, are people still going with the hurricane coming? I'm new to living on the coast, but hurricanes sound scary and seem like things we travel away from, not toward??

We will be fine! We braved a storm last year! And anyway the storm is not supposed to hit us until Sunday (aka our drive home) Friday and Sat are supposed to be perfect! The calm before the storm!

We still have plans to be there (but will keep an eye on the weather) and will cut it short and probably leave on Sunday...

Sigh. I'm working on it, but some *crap* came up, and I won't be able to do Saturday. I'm trying to work out coming Friday evening, and would have to leave around 3pm Saturday.

I have when life gets in the way of fun stuff. :nono:

My mom and I are here at the windjammer. We changed our departure from mon to sun.we are being told this one is going to be bad. The maintenance man said he will need to remove all the chairs sometime Saturday. They mentioned that if the mayor calls for an evacuation it is not optional.
