Nosodes/Titers

What have you folks done when titers have read a "tad" bit less than what is the accepted number?

Have you continued to use nosodes, or have you vaccinated?

TIA,

Depends on how low it is and which antibody it's testing. Here, distemper is crazy bad in our raccoon population. If the titer low, I would probably vaccinate. Now for Parvo, nope. I'd ride it out. Besides rabies, those are the only vaccinations I do so the rest, I don't even care about.

It's what you would call borderline. It is the parvo. About 2/10 below the lowest level of "acceptable".

I titer for the parvo and distemper only. The only reason I vaccinate for rabies is because the State of NH will not accept an exemption from vets. And I have to license them in our town each year with proof of rabies vaccs.

Typically if its low, I vaccinate for it, because we travel so much. Being that its summer, I would probably vaccinate for it even if we weren't traveling. IF, I were not going anywhere, and IF it was the winter where things are not as common, I would probably wait 6 months and either titer again or vaccinate.

Although dogs CAN get parvo, the majority of the cases are puppies up to 6 months of age. Just my opinion. I know most like to "play it safe" and just vaccinate but I don't. If there was NO antibody, I might but just low, nope.

But then, I don't give antibiotics preventatively or worm or flea prevention or any of those things. If they don't need it, they don't get it. Just my opinion.

Forgot to add, have another titer run in 3 months and it will probably be up. Mine titer high for hepatitis and they have NEVER been given a hep vaccination. It's part of the titer package the vet runs (I guess a lot of the dog parks ask for that).
