Hi everyone. When I first got Thunder down in the States, we stopped off at a Petco store to pick up a few supplies and some of his brand of food that we could not get up here in PEI. We got a set of these lovely dog food dishes:

I was wondering is there a place that you can get the rubber band that goes around the bottom that keeps the bowl from slipping on the floor. Mine are getting cracked and almost ready to break. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Good questions Kent. I've never seen just the rubber gaskets. We have several bowls that the gaskets have bitten the dust.

It would be nice if somebody sold them!

Has anyone thought to contact Petco? They would have all the information you would need, i.e. manufacturer/supplier. And if Petco can't get them for you, maybe they could tell you who to contact. We have similar bowls - not as deep, but larger around.

I have the same type of bowls...Boj chewed the rubber off a long time ago, when he was a wee pup...now I just have a big plastic mat under it.

I am not sure what it is called but they make a silicone type rubber that you can dip tool handles and such in to give them a rubber grip. It's a liquid and you dip whatever in it, and it dries to a rubber like finish. Lowes and the Depot carry it in the paint and hardware section.
Perhaps the rim of the bowl could be dipped?
I too have collected several of these type bowls over the years. When the gasket goes I just keep them for spare water dished....I have also donated several to the local shelters..

I did wonder about that stuff Nowhavethreebears. I was also wondering about large rubber bands, like the kind that we use to use to hold our hockey socks up.
Just a thought.

Or if there is enough of an edge, you can pick up automotive rubber matting and glue it to the bottom of the bowl. Hubby did that to a couple of tool boxes one time to keep them from slipping around the trunk of his car.

Those rubber matts they sell in restaurant supply stores could be cut down to size and you could use some appoxy to bond them to the bowl. That would work pretty well I would imagine and work just as well if not better. Or you could always just leave those matts as is and put the bowls on top of them if you were feeling uncreative lol.

Yes JL that also came a cross my mind. Might serve nicely as a back splash catch! ;)
