Hi Maria

I just finished By the Light of the Moon. I really enjoyed it. I also like the authors you mentioned.

Where do you live on Long Island? I am originally from Queens, New York.

I'm an avid reader of sci-fi, fantasy and historical novels when I can get the time. My favorites are the Game of Thrones books by George R. R. Martin and the Dragonbone Chair series by Tad Williams.

I didn't think I was interested in romance novels but through a mishap acquired the "Out of Time" series by Diana Gabaldon a few years ago. The book was situated on the end of the aisle (a featured selection) between the romance and sci-fi sections and it caught my eye because of the element of time travel -- I bought it because I thought it was a fantasy novel. (I turned my nose up at romance novels, you see.)

After I got part way through it, however, I began to suspect that it was probably a featured item from the romance aisle, not the sci-fi aisle (it was quite a bit steamier in spots than my usual reading
). Well, by then it was too late -- I was truly hooked and read the rest of the series voraciously. I also told my sisters, who told their friends and so on -- they were all hooked in spite of themselves. My sister told me that even one of her friends who is a bit of an intellectual snob and works in a writing-related job got hooked and was embarrassed to let anyone know. She would read the books on breaks when no one was looking and then hide them in the trash can so no one would know.

Anybody reading Property, Contracts, Torts, and/or Civil Procedure? That's about all I have time for these days.
Can't complain too much, though - I asked for it.
When I'm not in school I'll read pretty much anything. I'm a sucker for John Grisham books (go figure) and I've had Gone With the Wind memorized for years but I still read it at least once a year. I also like James Michener except his books tend to get really heavy and hard to hold onto.
I've also been working on Lord of the Rings. I got a ways over my Christmas break, but not far enough. Anything science related works, too. I highly recommend "The Double Helix" by James Watson and Stephen Hawkings "A Brief History of Time."

Hey Annette,

I am in Western Suffolk County on the north shore (commack/dix hills/kings park area). I used to work at an accounting firm just outside of Queens in Valley Stream.

Where in NJ are you? My grandmother lives in northern jersey (Boonton)and thats really the only area I know...except Great Adventure and Giant Stadium (been to both many times).

Kirsten...I loved Gabaldons book. I only read the first one she ever wrote though. It was long but a total page turner.

Kelli...been there done that with the law books. Accounting major, so I needed business law I II III. I know that stuff is dry and hard reading for some but honestly I thought it was pretty cool...but then again I love accounting

I just finished a great travel book about living in Spain, "Driving Over Lemons", written by Chris Stewart, a former band member of Genesis who moved to Spain. It was recommended by friends in England over some of the other travel books written by Peter Mayle and Francis Mayer.

It was a delight, funny, and very genuine.

Hi Maria

I live in South Jersey, right across the river from Philadelphia.

I remember going to the Valley Stream mall when I was little. That was a big outing for us, going to the country. ha ha..

I've looked at the Divine Secrets website quite a few times, I think the fact there are Ya-Ya's is great.
Love the YaYas. :D When on earth is a new book of Rebecca Wells' coming out!?!
