come ON! I just switched...I don't need to be stressing out over this too! Hopefully, it's just some tampering that happened in Australia...

That's what I'm hoping, too Meg...does anyone know if the US automatically irradiates imported food items without our knowledge?

I think to some extent, commercial food will always carry some risk, no matter how much the companies try, how reputable they are, or how good the food is.
I would think pet food isnt regulated and checked near as much as human food, and we still have outbreaks and recalls on a fairly regualr basis even with human food. I guess the best we can do when feeding commercial foods is be very vigilant to changes in our pet's behaviors, stools, etc. I find it interesting that this article makes mention of the food having a bad odor. Personally, if the food smelled bad to me, I wouldnt feed it. I guess it could be that the food had developed an odor by the time they tested it, but didnt smell bad when it was fed.
I too am hoping it was an isolated incident, but I guess only time will tell.

I dont know if they automatically irradiate foods, but I think some companies do voluntarily, unless I am thinking of something else. I remember seeing something on TV a while back where it was a problem with meat. It was processed in SOME way, not sure if it was irradiated or some other process, but the meat NEVER looked bad!!! They let it go a month or so past the "purchase by" date, and it still looked fine. I cant remeber if it still smelled fine or not, but I vividly remember it looked absolutely no different than freshly packed meat.
