at UNC-Chapel Hill. I was visiting my daughter to watch her play in a varsity tennis match(she is a freshman on the team)One of the older girls on the team (screamed out from the court while they were warming up)Hey Mrs. Harris, what's going on over on newfie-net? Well the whole team even the coach and his assistant started giggling. Later I found out that my daughter had told them I was going through a mid-life crisis when she left home(Bought a newfie and was obsessive about this dog forum-her words)Her friends told her better a dog forum than a boyfriend so they happily tease me and actually want to know what the latest scoop is on the forum. Can't wait to tell her that I finally got my avatar on and she is on it!!!

Very cute! I will be in the same situation soon when my boys go to college in the fall. I haven't decided on whether of not I will be adding another newfie though.
Glad you are enjoying yours and I love your avatar!

Jim says that I am obsessed with NewfNet,too.
yet I never thought ever that he would say that he preferred the Newf over the Shepherd.
He brings Tulsa's pictures to work with him.

Allen has been converted to. His whole office is covered with the boys pictures and he even has their picture on both his laptop and his computer at work! I'm the one with the addiction to NN though! :D

empty nest syndrome made me find newfie love and hubby loves pyrs, hence 3 newfs and 2 pyrs.well I figure it this way, the kids are grown and leading their own life.what good parents we are not meddling in their affairs.lol..so they think we obsess and have lost our minds over the dogs.we could be visiting them every night and telling them how to raise their kids.lol...my son says hes waiting for me to dye my hair black and start barking....lol

Thank you, I talked to "the daughter" today and told her I now have an avatar and she is on it.
Hanes started laughing and said she couldn't wait to tell her friends. Evidently they have been asking how the crazy Mom is that loves Newfie Net.
Hanes said to please show her picture to any of you who have college age sons!!! I didn't tell her that we may all move to a newfie commune together and then she could pick out her own dog loving boyfriend!! Darby

Will there be single MEN there, too?
(Oh, sorry - guess this is not that kind of forum!)

Your daughter is a cutie!! Love the avatar! My kids say the same thing too, only they originally called my dear Newf Net "some sort of dog cult or something" and stated "We better watch her."
They now are very overprotective. How do they think I raised them?
Wait til they hear about our Newfie commune!! When they call or come over now they say, "What goin' on at Newf Net!! My kids I teach and fellow teachers all routinely ask me about "Newfie Net." One young teacher , (who I know thinks I came in with the dinosaurs) even said, "You know, It's really nice how you all keep in touch." and her young friend nodded enthusiastically! So, I guess Newf Net is famous!

I got Zeke the year before I became an empty nester! Daughter was begging for a newf for a couple of years before, I finally said, what will I do with a puppy, you're going to be gone in a year, and then it hit me like a rock, I NEED A PUPPY CUZ YOU'RE GONNA BE GONE IN A YEAR!!
We are all so happy that we have him. Just got home from a weekend visiting her at college, he is a big hit there.

Yup, our grown kids think we are nutz too and both our daughters have their own Newfs. After having met many people on this board last week, nobody's kids have to worry about the people you meet here. They are an awesome bunch for sure.
