Nitro decided to he was the Obedience Instructor

Last Friday night Nitro got a little board while Mark and I were teaching class for our local obedience club so he decided to show them what a Newf could do and climbed up in a chair and did a sit stay in the chair for about 10 minutes while class was going on.

We all just watched him do it, never seen him do it before, I guess he just wanted to sit on the chair, we got him down and alittle while later he did it again. He just taught himself & when everyone laughed I guess he thought he must look cute, if we wanted him to do it he probably wouldn't have done it.

I think chair sitting is an innate behavior in Newfs. I was clicker training mine to put his paw on the chair...end of trick. He decided the trick should be extended to sitting in the chair, so I gave him a click. Now he climbs and sits in a chair on the "paw" command. This trick is only confusing to those watching.
