Newfie in Hoover Commercial?

Am wondering if my eyes were being true to me. I saw a really cute commercial last night for Hoover windtunnel. The commercial opened with a newfie walking in the door and he decides to shake right in the entry way. It is a sort of slow motion shake and you can see the hair flying off of him...but as the hair hits the floor...it morphs into a bunch of tiny black dogs. I think many of us have made the comment that we've swept up enough hair to make another newf...well, this commercial is a really cute take on the notion that the hair begins to take on a life of its own!

Has anyone else seen this? If so, can you confirm that it was a newf in the opening so that I know my eyes weren't deceiving me!

Thanks for finding that Nessa...I watched it a couple times. I think it is a very cute commercial and hope to see it more on tv!!

Great sleuthing!

OH my GOSH!! My husband and I saw that commercial last night too! I was hoping someone here saw it! I just wished they showed more of the Newfie.

It would have had a great impact if they showed the Newfie, all tidy, at the end after they vacuumed up all the hair.

Then they could have had him fling floogers EVERYWHERE and say regretfully "well, we can't solve everything"

Send your idea to them Teri! A Newfoundland in all of their advertisements sounds like a wonderful idea. I know I'd buy a Hoover the next time around!

But who would buy all the Newfs that would pop up suddenly from Puppy Mills etc? And then in a few months/years be overwhelming Rescue?

(Which is what happened with Goldens due to Air Bud and all of the darned commercials all over the place - like Dirt Devil)

This commercial is great! I love it because it's cute...and it has MANY breeds and doesn't focus on one specifically!!

I was hoping to see the little ankle biters being sucked into the vacuum....but I guess that would have been just a tad politically incorrect!

One of my friends observed "Who knew that's where they get black Pekes?!"

That's so funny! I'd know that was a newf if I had my eyes closed. That sound when they shake their head is un-mistakable!

I really doubt that Hoover has the advertising budget to saturate the media like Budweiser has.

The past year or so should be the time frame when Rescues were swamped with suddenly big newfies because of the publicity of Josh's win two years ago. Has there been (I don't know)?

Also there is a big difference in perception between a dog that hangs out & plays basketball & one who comes inside & explodes fur everywhere.

I know Greg....that's why I like this particular commercial.

I was only referring to this statement:

Dirt Devil did a pretty good job saturating the market with little Golden puppies running up and down the stairs, pulling on plants, making a mess.

I must have seen that commercial about a million times over several years.

like Budweiser has.
What the heck has Budweiser got to do with it? I doubt many people want a Clydesdale for a pet!

I believe I've heard people who work with rescue say that they definitely saw a rise in "intakes" within a year or two after Josh's win. But that was almost four years ago - February, 2004 - and I believe things have finally calmed down a bit? (I don't know either...just echoing some comments I've heard).
