I contacted one of the owners of NEWF-L and this is the message I received back.

I contacted one of the owners of NEWF-L and this is the message I got back:

"We're on vacation! I'll be back March 2nd and will catch up with you then."

I hope they went somewhere warm! I hate the thought of not being able to get messages so I've emailed the other owner and hope to get a reply. (I'll go through withdrawal soon if I have to wait a week or more!!) Geeesh...I got to get a life.

If I hear anything I'll let you all know.

Yeah, something's up. I had to re-subscribe and I've gotten nada, zip, zero for a confirmation email that they've received it. Hmm.

Sometimes the Newf-l list just goes down for no apparent reason, thankfully not often. It has to do with I believe the provider which is of course the University of Colorado. Usually it's only down for a couple days, probably be back up and running tomorrow. Which means you will see tons of test messages, etc. <vbg> I guess we all will just have to suffer with Newf-l withdrawl for now!

I just checked my Newf-L. The last message I received was 2/22 at 11:52AM. I'm subscribed in 2 places, and neither have any mail after that date. Newf-tech seems to be working fine.

This forum exists because I got to fed up with Newf-L. The problems, the fighting, the -ahem- less than nice people...

Oh, and the no pictures rule.

I just joined this forum (thanks, Kanela :)). I also just received one post to Newf-L which had been sent on Saturday. Hopefully, things are on the mend with that list.

I had subscribed to Newf-L before knowing about Newf.Net and got tired of all the bickering. Thank goodness for Newf.Net. GAD you did a great job of starting this discussion forum. Thank you

Some time ago I got unsubscribed to Newf-L accidentally but I didn't bother re-subscribing.

Narky people, no off-topic conversations, intimidation tactics, viruses, etc.

There was good stuff too but I just couldn't be bothered.

Now I just come here.

Welcome Trudie!! Don't let any of the recent "intense" posts/threads discourage ya. NewfNet is a really great resource, not to mention fun place, for Newf folks!

I couldn't keep up with the number of posts on Newf-L. Some days it was near 75 to 100. Then if I was gone for a couple of days, I could have 400 posts waiting.
I just couldn't read it all. There is some very good info on there. I learned alot. There are some really experienced, intelligent and generous folks on Newf-L. I am in "postpone" mode right now, and not receiving it. I'm getting my "Newf-fix" here. Plus if I want to refer back to some thing important or interesting, It's easier to find here.

I tried Newf-L a few times, but always unsubscribed because it was not what I wanted. Then I found newf net and I don't miss newf-L at all
