Need a soft food d/t dental surgery

My Belle had dental surgery and now has to be on soft diet for 2 weeks. I need a recommendation for soft food. I was thinking about cooking for her, thinking this would be better for her than most cans???? She is very picky. I am concerned I will never get her back to dry, lol. Any comments on rice - white vs brown?

Thanks,

Pam and Belle

If you're trying to get her back to dry food, you could try slowly incorporating some wetted down dry food into her canned food every night and gradually increase the ratio. I used watered down dry food for my dog after oral surgery and he loved it, and it made it so I didn't have to buy something special. Just run a little hot water in it and let it soak in for a few minutes. Best of luck! Belle is so cute!

You can give her eggs, rice, cook hamburger or chicken and chop it up. Dogs like potatoes (mashed). When it comes time to get her back on her regular kibble, just mix it in, and increase it while decreasing the people food.

Zuzu had dental surgery for her overbite as a baby. I think I fed her some canned food and some rice and hamburger - you can put it in a blender or use a stick blender with a litte water if you need it really soft. Zu was back to eating regular food pretty quickly - but I always wet her food and let it sit a bit anyway, because otherwise she inhales it. :)

Elvis was just on a soft diet this summer after having a tooth pulled. We just switched him to the canned version of Blue Buffalo lamb and rice and he LOVED it. He acted like he had never, ever tasted something so good in his life. You might be surprised and be able to use a canned food.
