Snuffalufagus got a bath yesterday. Someone is soft and snuggly...wonder who?

Do I get that treat in your hand if I sit here and look snuggly?

This is right after a big "WOOF" as he saw a Yorkie walking by out the front door ;) But he didn't break his "stay". :)

Enough already lady...

And here's some I took last week of my handsome Murphy boy. :) He was sleepy from a romp at the park.

My eyes are getting heavy Mom.

I think I'll take a nap.

I can smell the freshness. Boy, does Gabe have that look that just wraps you around his paw and Murphy is handsome as ever. They look wonderfully happy, Jess.

They both look wonderful Jess!! Gabe looks so cuddly and fluffy! Murphy is just plain HANDSOME. What a beautiful pair they are!

Murph's face is really turning white now isn't it? Interesting how some lines do that very young, and others stay gold until very old age. Ray and Amos have very little white, yet it's starting...but they're around 7-8 yrs old. Maggie's started turning white about 3 years ago when she was four. And it's very obvious on her, since she's very dark red/gold. Chandler's is also turning now. So much so that he's looking even MORE like his Momma, Sasha. Love those sugar faces!

Thanks Donna! Yep...my boy's turning quite white already. He's only three...makes me sad actually. :( When we go for walks and people meet him they often think he's much older than he is. Oh if they only lived with him they would quickly change their minds! My parents' Chocolate Lab got a gray muzzle when he was only two. He's only 4 now and his muzzle is almost completely white. ??? I compared pictures of Murphy from his second birthday to his third birthday and there's quite a change in his face coloring. I'm wondering if the stress of the past year with the divorce had anything to do with it? I'm not sure if that's an old wives tale...but it does make me wonder. He's happy and healthy and I think he's the most handsome Golden around so that's all that matters. :)

Here's Murph on his 2nd Birthday:

And on his 3rd Birthday:

So handsome. But, m'dear...you really should not let so much time go by without sharing photos. Please more anytime...soon!

Jess, are you in contact at all with his breeder? Or do you know any of his siblings? This often runs in families.

Stress could have something to do with it, but I kind of think not. If he was stressed, it would show in behavior, or illness, or something...and then, perhaps, show up with premature white hair.

I've known many Golden people to notice the same thing in their pups...and others don't. Another big question is the color of the nose. It'll often turn brown/pink in the winter, then turn back to black in the summer, therefore, it's called "snow nose". But as they age, the nose will sometimes not turn back to pure black...which is also normal.

Sasha, by the time she was 12, had a pure white face, but her nose varied from summer to winter. Her daughter, DD, had very little grey in her face at all. She had NONE until she was about 10. And her nose stayed pure black. Chandler, Sasha's son, as I said, looks just like Sasha, and his face, at 8 is getting pretty grey. DD looked nothing like her mother. Totally different head shape, coat, everything. And she had a much calmer (not as "busy/active") disposition. So her Mom didn't have a lot of impact on her genes, LOL, whereas she did on Chandler's.

I find it fascinating that Newfs don't get so much white on their faces as they age. Chance actually has grey streaks on his sides, and in between his toes. LOL He's 12. The others have nothing so far. However, after Mira's spay and illness, he eyebrows turned white, and got LONG. Then, they turned back to black. And once I trimmed them, they stayed pretty much that length. I'm sure that was all stress related.

They are beautiful. You have been through a lot this past year. Their pictures reflect a happy, loving home......I bet you are all pretty content and cozy together. I remember feeling that way once settled after my divorce. Kim
