The NOT a brag laugh ...

Mr Bad Boy's 1st Down Stay in the ring with other Newfs.
The 1 exercise I've always been sure Orka would flunk because he'd run to play with the other dogs. But NNOOOO he has other ideas … epic fail, LOL

This was Sunday morning, 4/23/12, at Five Mile Lake near Federal Way, Washington. The Portland and Seattle Newf Clubs are merging waterwork training. 3 1/2 hour drive for us, U-Haul trailer full of gear, stayed at hotel with Orka for 1st time; he did really well.

The trainer is Cheryl Dondino, NCA Obedience Chair. She is a superb instructor. Found out last night when I watched Judi Adler's group training in the Willamette River in 1990, Cheryl was there.

Our training group is full of old-timers who have put many titles on their dogs, and then several of us blundering newbies.

He doesn't particularly like the "Down" command, or the Down Stay, although while serving, for instance at stores at the meat counter while shopping for him, he automatically goes down perfectly and willingly.

He had a huge number of new experiences yesterday and all in all did well. What he really wants is to PLAY with other dogs, so a whole morning spent being so close to other Newfs under strict control was torture for him. He does watch everything closely and learns and imitates from other dogs.

This was our 2nd pre-water training. He did most of his exercises without treats. He's a ham and loves the limelight, loves the exercises. Will post more videos and pictures.

The 1st training was in pouring rain. Yesterday was so gorgeous. Afterward he had a good swim in the lake.
