Readily available:
True Paws through Banfield at Petsmart. They do two chips - one for the most commonly used frequency and another with a different frequency.
ResQ chip offered at my regular vet.
Avid microchip - available at a clinic at an upcoming show
Any recommendations?
Also, I'm planning on having some health tests done at some upcoming shows. The tests will require the AKC registration number and either a tattoo or permanent ID #. I'm assuming that an ID number from any of these chip manufacturers will suffice for this purpose. Is that correct?
