Ok...I have 9 month old Isabella...who loves to eat POOP!!! UGH!!!! I took her to the vet and she is doing great, nothing medically wrong
She just likes to eat poop..I have tried the pumpkin..doesn't work...My vet suggested Meat Tenderizer...so I am trying this, only..salt is the first ingredient..

I have 4 dogs so I have to put this on all food. My concern is...will this cause any medical issues because of the salt? I only sprinkle a little bit on each bowl. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Chris

Charlie did that too...YUK!! He seems to be outgrowing it. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in, but I personally wouldn't use meat tenderizer...it's meant to break down the meat tissue. JMHO

I wouldn't recommend meat tenderizer either. There are advertised items such as Forbid which can be added to food for this purpose. I remember years ago when handlers wore the wash and wear suits and used meat tenderizer to remove slobber stains from them before washing. Apparently the meat tenderizer would dissolve the protein in the dog slobber so imagine what it could do to a dog's stomach.

I have used meat tenderizer in the past for just such a problem... and it seemed to work well. Just be sure to use ADOLPHS MEAT TENDERIZER and nothing else - the mixtures of stuff don't have the same effect. All the meat tenderizer does is add a not so nice 'flavor' to the poo. Forbid is supposed to do the same thing, but having tried it without success, I personally wouldn't recommend it. Besides, it's way more expensive than a jar of meat tenderizer that you will only be using about 1/4 teaspoon of per dish. Use the amount your vet recommends, and YES put it on ALL dog's food... usually if you have a dog with a preference for recycled materials, they aren't picky about where (or whom) it comes from. The thing with the tenderizer (or whatever you choose) it consistency in its use... once you start you need to keep it up.

Hmmm...maybe the spinach I add to the boys veggie mash is what is doing the trick for Charlie...Thanks Janice, I'll be sure not to leave that out of the mix.

Licorice works well for many too. The black licorice. And the dogs seem to love it as well.
