Does anyone have any information or resources on this condition in newfs?
Has anyone had any experience caring for a dog with lupus?
Just starting to gather info - this is all new to us.

Our Coleman was diagnosed with Discoid lupus it effected the areas of his body where skin and hair met, like on his nose, around his eye etc. He was taking a med that we had to apply directly to his nose as that was the worse area to be affected. We had to make sure he didn't spend to much time in the sun or that would aggravate his condition. That has been several years ago back in 06 when he was first treated not sure if treatment is the same or has changed since then.

It's Laughlin's nose that is the main problem right now. it was dry and irritated for a week, and on Thursday the leathery skin came off the left side. His vet has prescribed Vitamin E, Omega 3s, and Niacinimide to try to get his system to calm down. Plus liquid Vitamin E on the surface of his nose.
At least we don't have sun and heat right now.

i had a chow/akita mix that was diagnosed with this. it hit his nose first then his eyes and he did end up blind. meds helped but he could not overcome the blindness. sending good thoughts to your baby!!
