long training lead for newf?

I was looking to get a 50 ft training lead (10$ on ebay), but was wondering on your opinion if this would be any useful for a newf or would it just break? I just want to be able to let my 5 month old "off leash" when at friends and family that don't have fenced yard. But I can't let her loose, her recall isn't good with distractions yet.

Haven't seen long leashes that are made of different material than nylon.

I have a flat woven one from petsmart. Like a regular leash, just longer. It's totally fine. We use it all the time.

We also have a longer yellow braided one that is thicker and made for tie-outs. It's gotten kind rough over the years, and I like the woven one better. The woven is also easier to clean.

Our dog trainer told me to tie knots in it every few feet so that if you ever needed to step on it to stop them it won't just pull out from under your foot. Obviously you don't want to do that when they are full-on running, but it works. :)

We made long leads with climbing rope/material that you can purchase by the yard/meter at REI. They were cheaper and stronger than those we could purchase. We just tied carabineer type clasps on one end.
