Long Lasting Stuffed Animals?

We have a bit of a problem in our household. Moose LOVES stuffed animals above all other toys in the world. He will gladly pluck one off the shelf and take it around Petsmart and it is always in his mouth at home...The problem is, we have yet to find one that lasts for longer than a week or two.

To it's credit, we had a "Tuffy's Barnyard Pig Dog Toy" that lasted about a month and a half. We'd like to replace it with a few more options and wondered what all of you buy, because I'm sure he can't be the only toy-killer on this forum. Do my toy addict a favor and send us a link to your favorite long-lasting toys!! Stuffed animals would be awesome but we'd love to try some fun puzzle ones too!

Here are some photos to thank you with.

The Tuffy Lil Oscar (purple octopus thing) lasted a LONG time here (over a year)...even with Goldens, who tear every stuffie up on about 2 minutes flat. Yes, there are stronger ones, but for some reason that one lasted longer than others. They do make a big version of that too...but ours like the Lil Oscar. It's big enough for a Newf. It's made in sections, so even if one "tentacle" is destuffed, the others are fine. Oh and the Starfish. Same reason. It's made in sections, but the Lil Oscar lasted longer (more sections).

Another fun toy is the Jolly Ball on a rope, as Alexis said above. Don't get the one with the handle, or the handle will be chewed off in no time. Also..don't let them play with it inside. They swing it all around..... :) Ours like the smallest (4.5") best and medium (6") next best. The smallest isn't so small they could choke, but they can easily pick up the ball portion. And they float! So you can take it for them to retrieve in the water. (The smaller one works best for that so they can get the actual ball in their mouths). The others...they have to carry by the rope, and the biggest (8") gets in the way of their movement when they're trying to run so they're not as fond of that one.

I love all the Moose photos! He is too cute and you have such a beautiful family! Mine is also a stuffed animal lover and we have the tuffie toys large octopus and ultimate tug gear. Only toys that has lasted over a year. She takes them everywhere...Found ours on amazon...much cheaper than in the petstore.

Thanks guys!! We'll try some of those, good to know that there are more options, because it breaks his little (124 pound) heart when I have to retire a stuffed animal to the closet to be "sewn" and he never sees it again. And I wondered about the jolly ball size and handles too when we looked at those, so thanks! I'll report back with how they all work for us.

I didn't even know the megas EXISTED. Kristen pretty much made my (or Moose's) whole day with that link. We'll buy the little oscar and jolly ball to hold him over until a Mega can be delivered.

We have the dragon in Pink (Zu) and the dinosaur in gray (Cooper). Both are in good shape. We also have a few unstuffed animals that have held up well.

Have you tried the puzzle stuffies with eggs or babies inside? Zuzu has one and likes it - Cooper only if I hide a biscuit in with the babies. LOL.

I think Moose would love that. Do you know if Petsmart sells it? He is very engaged with his kong treat dispenser. He'd love that this was a soft toy that he could get little toys out of. Thanks for the suggestions!

Millie LOVES these!!! She had about 4 different styles of the "houses" with animals inside! Her very favorite! :)

Elvis must really be rotten - he has every toy listed on here. He also had the pig, but ripped out its jugular last summer. The octopus has lasted the longest, and he LOVES his dragon/dinosaur. It's Elvis-proof, but my parent's lab destroyed it in a heartbeat when we left it at their house. He got the starfish for his birthday in January and it's still in one piece. He also got a jolly ball for Christmas that he loves.

Oh, his favorite toy of all time is his possum toy. Like, he luuurrrrvvveeessss it. It's not that strong, but it's His Toy. He also really got into an un-stuffed ostrich type thing during his TPLO recovery.

A secret santa from 2 years ago sent one of these to Suki. And it it holding up really well. Only one of the squeakers has stopped working. But beware, it squeaks on the squeeze down as well as on the release, and it's pretty loud. I'm pretty sure it's her favorite toy when we are trying to watch TV.

You know, Elvis has a Tuffy gator toy that he never plays with. Never. If you want, I can send it out to Moose. I think he doesn't like it because it's big and heavy. I can post a picture if you think you may be interested!

Thor would like to tell Elvis he LOVED his toys!!

LOL! I had to finally throw them away. That boy will just chew and chew on his toys. Thank god it's only the toys!

I so needed this thread! I bought Griffin the Tuffie "by-horse" (which really looks like a goat to me) and he ripped it's foot open and had half the stuffing out within 10 minutes of giving it to him. We now mostly have rubber toys. Oddly enough his favorite toys are the home-made stitched together cloth pieces together my mom made for my parents' golden.

This is one of Griffin's favorite toys. It has 3 "pockets" that you can put goodies in and they have to try and get them out.

Ooh good toys, yay! I will try some of these out for Guinness!

We gave up on toys for Jedi - he destroys EVERYTHING in no time flat. If it says indestructible it will give us a few hours of quiet, but that's about it. My daughter's stuffed animal collection is getting smaller and smaller (not a bad thing) because she leaves them on the floor and they instantly become "snow" as the kids call it. He has bones, tennis balls and when we do the laundry he gets whatever socks don't have mates. I can't complain about that, a knotted sock with no mate is much cheaper than the good dog toys and he LOVES them.

I'm going to try toys with Guinness and we'll see what happens, this may be interesting. I'm not sure how I'm going to keep the toys separated, and Jedi will eat them. I'm keeping my fingers croooooossssssseeeddd that Guinness won't be quite as destructive as Jedi, but I have a feeling that may be me living in lala land. Maybe trying to keep stuff separated will be a good training exercise for both of them! (positive thoughts)
