knee surgery

My love of my life newfie girl Maya is going to have to have a second knee surgery. I've been debating whether to put her through this at her age (6.5) but I think she deserves to be able to run and play and live a full life! So I scheduled it. I am so worried about it!! I wish I could be there for it.

I'd really appreciate knowing about other older newfs who've successfully made it through surgery.

Emma was 10 yrs when she had TPLO surgery done, so I'm sure Maya will be fine. Sending her lots of good thoughts.
Emma jogged along after the surgery till she was 12 and a bit. The surgery really slowed her down and the rehab. was hard but she enjoyed life for another couple of years.

Thanks very much. We've tried the slowing her down, giving her lots of glucosamine routine for several months and she's just getting worse so its time.

Have you considered hydrotherapy for her before surgery? And if you do the surgery, perhaps hydrotherapy afterwards?
