Is this rescue or business?

I agree Joan, I just think of it as we want what we want for a little while at least. No muss no fuss. I think this is really sad for the dogs.. what is the difference if they are in a shelter or in a window. Poor dogs can't bond to anyone, it's like foster care (no i don't mean fostering for re-homing i mean like children foster care) for dogs., going from home to home but no place to call your own.

business. i think her thought process might be trying to do a good thing but i dont believe she is thinking about how the dogs may feel going to a home and having to come back again. sometimes many times??? i believe it just condones thoughts of disposable pets!!

Business and the owners last statement says it all:
Quote:
“I love my cat,” Mr. Haddix said of Stoli, his 6-year-old Maine coon, before turning out the lights, “and no, he’s not for rent.”

This has been done in foreign countries like China for years. Dogs rented by the hour to walk around the city. Julie

After reading the site..my mind said..just substitute the words 'child'..and then see how it looks..as to worthyness. There are people..who should never..have children..and there are people who should not have pets. If they 'need a pet fix'..in their life..go visit someone..who lives with one..and share that sort of time. Go to a petting zoo..and get used to the idea..that 'they the person'..are not yet worthy'...for any number of reasons. When people get away with the sort of business activity..under a personal feeling of it's being 'better than where the animal was prev.'...they add to the many areas of emotional-grey..that complex societys create. If one sees the areas..diff. but..similar..of unmarried, married, rent an escort, trophy spouses, one night flings..and..the list goes on. Humans can most-times..choose where they are going, why..and pick a path towards..something more 'well'..more life affirming..in their lives. Those 'pets'..are in a loop not of their own CHOICE..and thus..as cold and alone at night..as if they were still on the streets..no connection..no..sweet dreams..no face smiling at them in the morning..saying 'you are loved..and safe here'... Have I been too harsh..undoubtedly..but me n mine..still understand..what is genuine..and what is glitzy-faux...'atempted'..living. ina n HB

I was really surprised when I read that article this weekend that is was so positive. Flexpetz is trying to come to Boston and all the shelters and rescues are dead set against them. This was the first I heard about the dogs being shelter dogs, but if the dogs are that nice they are highly adoptable and I think saying they are shelter dogs is just to get them better PR.

I don't know about this one. It's kind of like "rent a kid". No responsible, loving parent would rent their kid and I sure as heck would never rent either of my girls. I'm having a hard time with this one.

Business.
I don't get the part where they say the ultimate goal is to get the dogs adopted, yet the renters are screened to see why they can't have a pet of their own.

To me it's despicable! It makes me sick! Pets are a lifetime commitment, it hurts me to even think about putting my boy in a kenel while i'm in europe. Those "renters" don't deserve pets.

I'd like to know how many dogs have been placed in forever homes by this company. My guess is less than 5%. They espouse that goal so they look like they're looking out for the best interest of their charges. The woman who uses the dog as a means of meeting new people is not someone I'd like to hang with.

This was one of those articles that leaves me with a feeling of emptiness. I agree, it sounds like they are hiding under the blanket of the "goal of getting them adopted", only to make a huge profit from those less fortunate(the homeless dogs), by RENTING?!?!? dogs out to those who can't have one permanently....so the question begs to be asked; why rent them to people who can never adopt them? Where is the logic in that?
