iPhone 4 question

Can someone give me an idea as to why my battery on my iPhone does not hold a charge as long as Gary's? I charged mine last night and have not used it at all today and the batter is at 75%. Gary has not charged his for 2 days and is at 50%. I have everything off on my phone I can turn off. Apps, notices, pushes, you name it it's off.

Are the apps closed? By double clicking the button on the front it shows you which ones are still open and you can close them by swiping them off of the screen. Other than that I would look at how long it takes your phone to time out. Mine is set at 1 min then it goes black. If yours is set longer it could be draining it. Also how bright you have it set drains your battery I keep mine at about 1/4 brightness.

End of November/first of December was 1 year I've had the phone. Gary and I got our phones the same day.

I have apps closed. But when I double click I see many. I tried swiping them off the screen but it didn't work. Set to time out at 1 minute. Light is set at 1/3 bright

Hopefully that works, but if not, take it to the apple store (make and appointment online first) and they will check the battery. Mine got pretty bad after 18 months-2 yrs and I was able to get it replaced onsite at the apple store for $75 - way less than a new phone.

Also if your not logged into wifi that can drain your battery too if you are online. I love the apple store. This week I dropped my phone in water and the receiver stopped working so I could only talk to people on speaker phone. I went to the apple store and no questions asked they were going to replace the receiver for free! That still didn't work so he came out with my phone and a new one and replaced mine on the spot for free! If I had taken it to Verizon instead they would have told me that water damage isn't covered and that I would have to pay for a replacement. I avoid going to Verizon at all costs and just deal with the apple store. I even did my upgrade there which was nice because they don't try to hassle you with all of the add ons.

I live in the boonies. The closest Apple store to me is 88 1/2 miles one way according to their website.

I do not use it for wifi and seldom with 3G. I don't like it. I always have access to my computer or laptop. I don't even use my kindle to get online except to get books.

what is your closest apple store? Columbus? or do they have one in cincinatti? Columbus is closest for us...almost three hours. I've not been there. I'll just make an excuse to go to Baltimore, or wait until I visit my son in Fort Lauderdale. We're in a bit of a cultural/apple void here in West Virginia.

Here is a fix that worked for me. I have a 2 year old iPhone 4s, a week or so ago, I could only get half a day out of the battery, then I remembered reading a while back that you need to let the battery drain all the way down, then recharge it. I did this several times and now the battery holds it charge again.

Hope this helps.

I've tried that but it is worth another try.

OK everyone, I heard on FB that after updating to the newest software battery drain has been a problem. I checked Gary's phone and it still has the older software version while mine has the newer version. I will not be updating his phone!

My bluetooth is off. Has been for a long time. I never use it. When I first got the phone I used bluetooth in the car but people would complain they couldn't hear me so I stopped. I shut it off because it kept connecting when I didn't want to use it.

Next suggestion please!

I talked to a friend and they said if your location services are on they can drain it too. Especially if you are in the middle of no where because it is constantly trying to find you.

I have location services shut off. Like I said I have almost everything shut off so I basically have a stupid smart phone! NO apps, location services, bluetooth, badges, maps, no sound, low backlight, no update apps. I don't know what else to do or try.

I did a quick search on the apple forum, and a bunch of people said that deleting all of your mail accounts and resetting them fixes the problem. Worth a try?

I deleted all my mail accounts yesterday afternoon. I am not going to reset them because I never used the mail on my phone.

Last night I left the phone off the charger to drain the battery all the way and this morning it still had a charge. Maybe the mail account was the problem. I'll see.

thanks for the info
