Intermittent incontinence

Hey Guys,

Daisy who is somewhere around threeish has been having peeing accidents lately, mostly when she's lying down or sleeping (we've had her for about a year and a half with no potty issues). It happened a lot for a while so I took her in. Even going into the bladder with a needle for a clean specimen they determined she didn't have a UTI. It stopped for a while and then happened last night.

Since a UTI was ruled out the vet recommended anti-incontinence drugs. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks,
Michelle

I've actually been experiencing this with Myra, It's happened about 4 times, no UTI.
My thoughts unfortunately falls back to her lower lumber spondylosis.

Since she's so young (6) I didn't want to start her on Proin yet. But Charlie Baker had mentioned something about corn silk. So I have bought some but have not had a chance to use just yet. (hasn't happened in a while) Read up on it and maybe give that a shot.

You know I didn't think about that, thanks for mentioning it Carole ;) I do massage her back and stretch her legs but she might do well with some type of adjustment.

Cubby is 11 years old and I take her to the chiro for maintenance adjustments. She is in good shape - no mobility issues. The chiropractor also showed me how to get Cubby to do "crunches" to strengthen her abs to help stabilize her lower back. I have her stand up and I stand behind her then very lightly "pinch" her tummy with both hands, just enough pressure to get a muscle reaction. She will automatically pull her tummy in tight. I repeat that a few times - until she gets annoyed with me. I do this on a semi regular basis... when I remember.

Our 3 year old female started leaking while laying down and especially when she was tired just before she turned 2 years old. Our Vet tested for UTI and gave us meds for what he diagnosed as spay incontinence - Incurin. I am not sure of the long term effects of this med but it has stopped the leaking or intermittent incontinence. We haven't noticed any other side effects.

Thanks guys! I will look into a chiro for her. The vet just gave us Incurin. I'd asked for DES as recommended by Tricia but he said that stuff was tough to find now (???) and shouldn't (I HOPE) have any ill effects.

I asked our Vet for DES also and he said "no" but I can't remember why... I think it made sense at the time.

My vet gets DES from a compounding pharmacy. I've never had difficulty getting it. I can find out where they source it.
