I would like to thank you all...

I would just like to sincerely thank everyone that wrote us to express their condolences, understanding and helpful advice at what has been a very difficult time for us. Thank you all, you have helped us tremendously and though we are still very sad a Ben’s parting your words have definitely helped soften the blow a bit.

We decided to have our beautiful boy cremated so we’d be able to bring him home with us, and we went out to the crematorium a few days back to say our final goodbyes and to pick out a nice box for him. I stayed with him until the end and even assisted in placing him in the oven which, was, needless to say,EXTREMELY upsetting. Though part of me wishes I had not done it-as it was truly awful-overall I am glad that I did. You see, I thought that I owed it to him to be there until the end, to make certain that things were going to be done right, and equally importantly, that he was treated with the respect and dignity he so rightfully deserved.

Though we are still very upset things are-very-slowly getting a little better. Tehya is the one who I feel most sorry for now. We’ve asked one of our breeders about getting another pup for her, and that may happen in sometime in January. Though I don’t know if we’re ready for that yet, I do know that it’s not about us right now but about her. That said, I also know that any dog that came into our house would be welcomed and loved just as much as any we’ve ever had. Thank you all again, thanks for listening and thanks for your help.

Oh Glen...this has just brought tears to my eyes. Your devotion to Ben is so strong and beautiful and certainly he was worthy of every ounce of that devotion. You have shown such courage and strength to see Ben through to end...and I'm sure he was with you every step of the way to help you as you helped him. Please know that he is watchful over you and though he has crossed the bridge the love and devotion he showed you was obviously equally repaid in full by the love and devotion you have shown him. Rest assured any new pup to grace your home will be one lucky pup and I'm sure Ben will still manage to make a mark on that pup and others as he will never leave your heart. Give Teyha lots of NN hugs and kisses and know that you are all in our prayers.

I agree with Katie. I applaud you for being with him until the very end. I too have ashes that I can take with me if I ever move. You will be reunited with Ben some day and he will thank you for caring so much.

Your devotion is breathtaking. I always have my dear furkids cremated and keep their ashes, too. To do what you did was nothing short of heroic, and I tremendously admire you. Ben watched and was so proud. He is with you and will be with Tehya and any new pup you bring into your wonderful home. Godspeed in the healing process for all.

Again, so very sorry for your loss. It was very touching to read how you escorted him through the final phase. I hope this will give you some closure, and help you get ready to welcome a new pup soon.

So sorry, and I can only imagine how incredibley painful that must have been. Your devotion to be with Ben until the end is so admirable. Godspeed Ben.

I admire your strength and fortitude. I was there for the passing of both my old lady lab and my way too young to go Mastiff. I wasn't able to escort them through their cremations (because I didn't think to ask), but I keep their ashes on a mantle with photos...to always remind me they are waiting for me at the bridge.

I agree with you. It is really expensive, but . . .

It is certainly a wonderful idea. I love the idea of keeping them close to our hearts.
