I made my own leash...almost

I came across a you tube video of how to make your own dog leash, collar, etc. with parachute cord. The cord comes in every color imagineable. I've not been able to find a nice urban handle short leash so I thought I'd do this. I prefer to have leverage on my dog when in public. It only cost me $5 for two 10 ft. cords and the clasp I already had. Once I figured out the cobra knot, the rest went quickly, about an hour. Only, I miscalculated the length and ran out of cord. I will try again, but these pics show how far I got.

This is cool! It looks awesome! It looks very durable, too. Let us know how it works out after you've completed it and tried it out for a while. Super creative!

Great idea. I'd love the link to that video if you still have it around handy. :)
Actually, I had to look at several videos to understand. Here are two that I watched the most. I had to search more to see how to finish off the final strands. The end of the 3rd video addresses that. I believe using paracord needles from paracord planet would make it easier than using a hemostat. There's even a vid on how to make your own paracord needles for $1.10. The cobra knot is quite easy and takes no more than 30 min. for a short leash. The toughest part is figuring how much cord is required. I've undershot twice now, but not giving up. I'm learning more with each mistake made.

Here's a picture of my second failed attempt. :grrr: That's okay...I didn't like the color anyway.
