How to get a Newf in to an elevated bathtub?

When we built the kennel, we put in an elevated bathtub for bathing the dogs (edge of tub is at countertop height) and since most of our beardies were between 40-55lbs, I could just lift them up in to the tub. But, Ozzie the newf is now a little over 11 months old and 106 lbs and his dad is 175lbs so...how to get HIM in the tub?

As some of our beardies got older, they had trouble getting up in to their cages, which were double stacked since we had so many dogs and we always feed in the cages, so I built a set of lightweight steps out of 4" styrofoam and covered them with indoor/outdoor carpeting. They were great for getting in to a cage that was about 26" off the ground. So I decided to utilize them and added one more 4" piece of foam, double stacked to add 8" to the steps. I put them in front of the tub and Oz, being a water lover, climbed right up in to it this morning, sniffed around the tub, realized he wasn't getting a bath and climbed right back out again. Now I have to find some more carpet to cover the rest of it.

Well, in summer months I can't keep him out of the pool but he was smaller and it wasn't hard to bathe him in the tub. Now that he's GROWN, it's a bit more difficult.

Oh that looks like a clever idea!

We go to a self serve dog wash and they have tubs that go up and down! If money were no object, this would be a great option.

That's really nice! I should try to convince my husband to give me a corner of his garage for that!

(Our garage is bigger than our house and I can't even park in there in the winter....it's too full of his projects...)

Oh, believe me....I know he's not close to being finished...his dad is 175 so while he may have reached his ultimate height, I know he has a lot of filling out to do.

I don't know what the self serve dog washes charge (though there's a car wash about a mile from here that has a dog bathing room too) but if you have a place with water and the room for a tub, it works great. We put a 10gal water heater under the tub though if I ever redo it, or do something similar, I will put in a instant water heater. We have a professional sprayer that we use for wetting and rinsing and when we built the kennel (20'x20' with heat/air and a floor drain), I put a dryer in the attached 1 car garage and piped (pvc) in the air so I don't scare the dogs with the dryer. We also have a cage and stand dryer for finishing up as I use to put the beardies in their cages to do most of their drying. With Oz...not so simple unless I buy another cage as his huge one is in the house.

My dog tub has an opening in the back. I lift up front paws and put them in the tub, and lift up the back end and walk him forward. Sulley will do nothing to help the grooming process, but normally complies with the bare minimum of my wishes.

I want that! Even if it would have to be outside (no garage here). My husband and I were just discussing last weekend (as I was bathing Obie with a hose and a sponge while suffering in seriously soggy jeans) .. that it would be great to put in an outdoor sink with hot & cold water available. Now..after seeing that.. it might just have to be a really -big- sink!
