Jake is just over 8 months, I am going to guess he is around 100lbs or so I have him on a diet due to hip dysplasia so I want to keep his weight down but he gets 1 cup wellness for morning, noon and night and then in between feedings he gets lots of veggies for fillers. And you would think he is starving all the time too, even right after he has eaten he will beg for what you have LOL.

Ok lets try that again...... Marcello is 11 months old and 120 pounds. He's on Innova and is now on 2 cups in the morning AND he's supposed to get 2 cups at night but it's more like one cup at night. He's not a veggie guy and I'd to change that!!! He does get a pigs ear occasionally. I've love to supplement his dry dog food but I don't know what with - he won't eat veggies.

Elle gets 1 1/2 cups morning, noon and evening. Two weeks ago she was getting 2 cups morning, noon and evening. She was severely underweight and the doc was giving us the riot act (hey, we were just following our breeder's instructions). She was about 32 lbs at 4months old. She is very gangly and big. We could see her spine(morning weights fluctuate way diff. than when she had evening appts with the doc). Now during the evening she is up to 54 lbs. She is 21 weeks, (5months, 1 week). I think we are going to start cutting out the lunch time feeding sometimes she is ravenous for it, sometimes she leaves it. We give her 20 mints to eat, then it is taken out of her crate. We don't add it "on" to the next meal, eat it or lose it so to speak. She is currently on the Fish and Sweet Potatoe formula of Wellness. She was on the chicken formula, but it was making her itch like crazy and breakout. The itching now seems to be subsiding and the redness has almost all disappeared. We add a bit of fish oil (2 tsp. daily) and K-9 brand of glucosamine. Sometimes she gets Kefir (low-fat buttermilk type product with active live cultures).
Hope this helps. I work at a natural food pet supply store. We dont carry INNOVA, but it is an excellent product. Remember every animal is different, even within the same bread. What might not work for your pup, may work for others etc..Good luck!

Brady is almost 11 months. He weighs 122 pounds. We feed him 1 1/2 cup wellness along with some sardines or salmon and yogurt 2x/day. He doesn't seem hungry in between, but we use veggies as treats and he loves them. Sometimes he just skips the am meal.

Wow, most people split feedings, hey? We asked our breeder about that, she said it was really down to our personal preference. Our last dog was fed once a day so we have kind of fallen into that pattern with Rory. However, we give her a few dog biscuits in the morning and she gets toast crusts (don't ask... ...it was a moot point around here for a looooong time) and then in the evening at about 6pm, she has her dinner. This is made up of about a cup and a half of dry kibble, some fresh meat, vegetables and usually, some rice or pasta.

She is more than happy to eat anytime, anyplace though. I can't imagine her ever refusing food! I don't think she goes around starving though. And she has plenty of bones to dig back up in the backyard if she feels like an unscheduled snack!

Brady's mom,
Elle gets the fish formula of wellness. Seems to be the only thing that won't make her break-out and itch like crazy. Which formula does Brady get? Since her skin is so sensitive I have to be careful what veggies we give her. She does get the munchies between meals. It would be good to be able to give her "crunchables" to keep her chewing between meals. Which veggies does he handle? We do give her no-fat/low-fat buttermilk with active-live cultures.
Just curious.

Ellesmom-We give Brady the chicken formula. We add a few sardines to it and believe it or not he will not eat the fish formula of Wellness. He also loves carrots, broccoli, green beans. I have one of those little "choppers". I put the veggies in there. I am sure he would do ok, but just to be on the safe side. He tends towards diarrhea so easily. We seldom give him snacks, but when we do petco has these cracker like (small) "Charlee bears". He loves those as a treat. We do give him raw carrots for snack, but I break them small. Oh, yes he loves frozen bananas. I forgot we also add about 1/4 cup yogurt (plain, nonfat) with each meal which usually keeps his diarrhea under control.

Thanks Pat, I add either yoghurt or buttermilk and find that it helps with firming up the stool as well. Just figured I'd ask..interested in seeing others that use Wellness and hear of their experiences. Elle's skin must be really sensitive. Her coat is looking much better now, very silky, slowly but surely the itchies are going away. She can't eat peanut-butter either, it makes her throw-up and break-out. Go figure!
Thanks again,

Oooo, I have never heard of feeding frozen bananas.....

Also, I see alot of you feed veggies, are these pureed or raw? What kinds do you feed?

Sorry if this is off topic, if so I can start a new thread. ;)
