Thank you all for your support. It really was the ultimate scare...and NANCY !!! I totally agree with you ... a HUGE wake up call going out to all pool owners!!!! Construction plans are set. My Mom let her out and "forgot"
I have a semi inground pool, gated.. and extra gates that only let them go to the potty area.
Akira is a laid back girl who I never imagined could or would have done this. She just barrelled past the gate .. after a squirrel, bird..who knows.

Patty, I am so sorry about your Mom's diagnosis.

We took out our swimming pool a couple of years ago because of our Newfs. It was too much of a temptation for them and they spend part of their day outdoors and unsupervised. Honestly, I think Murphy would stay in the pool all day, never realizing he was tired. John rented a Bobcat and filled in the hole (it was 9 feet deep at the deep end). There is a nice two level deck where the pool used to be. I am so relieved there was a happy ending for Akira.

Patty I am sorry to hear about your mom.

When we lived in town we had an inground pool. I hated it. Luckily in the summer the dogs didn't try to get in but in the winter Samantha would walk on the cover. Luckily the cover was suppose to be strong enough to hold a car. But I still worried and watched them all the time. Sam never fell through. I prefer our pond anytime--but we don't let them out when the ice is thin

What a SCARY thing with Akira. I'm so glad it had a happy ending. Poor girly. I'm sure she was just as frightened as you were.

What a scare you had with Akira! Is there any possiblity that she was on the cover and it sunk in? I'm sure Chance and her old boyfriend Kodi were watching over her and wouldn't have let anything happen to her. Give Akira a big newfy hug from us!
