This kitten is driving me crazy! Mom brought him home last week and he isn't afraid of me in the least. I think his name is NO but sometimes I hear them call him Nigel. He gets to sleep in the bed and I don't, I might be ok with that, not sure yet. But I had to set him straight the first day when he tried to steel my biscuit but otherwise he's ok I guess.

Don't show this to the other dogs, geesh...I shead hairballs bigger than him.

I gotta get this cat on my sleep schedule! By the way, what does nocturnal mean?

Those pics are so cute! I showed them to Baxter as I am hopefully getting a kitten in a few months. I told him that this is how we treat cats... we DON'T chase them!!

Great pictures! Cats and dogs, funny how they can adapt to each other. And I really think, they actually think sometimes they are not cats at all after being raised around dogs.

Melisa,
Those pictures are just adorable!!! I just love the expression on Emily's face in the first one and the one with the little kitty cuddling up to her is so precious. Thanks for sharing.

How cute!! Love the stripey-siamese look! Would you mind if I borrowed the pic (of the two of them together) to put in the list of possibles for our project??

Thanks everyone, New2Newfs borrow away no problem.
We just adopted Nigel from a rescue who pulled him from a high kill shelter. It was only him and his brother. Nobody knows what happened to Mom or the other littermates. He is a little thin and very hungry. He's never shown the slightest fear of Emily. He jumps all over her and even tries to steal her food!
We think he is between 9 and 11wks old. Emily is being an absolute angel with him. I really think that if you add a kitten with an adult dog they adapt. But if you add a puppy to a family with an adult cat, that cat may not be as accepting.

I totally agree. Our lab/spaniel and the cat get along great. Frank was almost 2 y.o. when we brought kitty home. Then we got Morgan and the cat was not particularly pleased. When we brought Quark home she was absolutely livid. I have a great photo of Quark sitting on our front step on his first day home with the kitty looking out the window giving him one of the deadliest glares I've ever seen.

I just LOVE the pics of Emily's new friend!!

So glad you are posting again! mj

ps. My mom's newf mix is totally RULED by the two cats in the house. In the evenigs though, the cats walk up to him and lay down and he grooms each one of them for about a half hour. Then, when the cats are done getting licked, they give him a swat on the nose and saunter away. Typical felines! mj
