Hand stripped a bald spot last night...

Harley needs grooming badly.
I raked him last night for about half an hour and got what looked like a shih-tzu sized pile of fur... and he's not thrilled to let me do tail and butt...

then he got up on the couch with me and i absentmindley started hand stripping him... and hair kept coming up... more and more and more...

finially i noticed he's got white flakes (I think from the conditioning spray I use) and the area I was hand stripping is DEPRESSED fur wise...

do i need to be concerned that he's got something wrong?

White flakes can be caused by lots of things. This time of year it is most likely dry skin. Do you have a humidifier? If not I suggest one. You can also add some sort of oil to his food, olive oil or just give him some salmon.

As far as the bald spot, I think you got carried away.

it's dry in our house and dry this month in general.

I will add some oil or salmon to his food... thanks for the advice.

Flax seed oil works very well too. My Murphy's coat and skin has completely transformed since I started adding it to his food about a month ago.

Sounds like Harley is Blowing Coat!!! It will probably get worse before it gets better. Time for that Salmon oil Nessa!
