LOL Jake is 18 weeks old and has been losing his too, I just keep using the rake on him for as long as he will let me everyday, I don't think it will ever end LOL. My problem is Jake always wants to lay on one side so the one side is getting a lot more grooming than the other LOL. Keep plenty of sweeper bags on hand!

HUM......welcome to the world of newf hair. You will have this the rest of your newf's life--shedding with hair everywhere only not as quite as bad as you have it now. Just get use it and invest in a good sweeper!!!

Last year, shortly after Kira came to us, we were at the lake. She went swimming for the first time, and after she dried off, Russell coaxed her into standing on the picnic table and combed and raked and combed and raked and combed and raked.... etc. Cora and I were sitting at the water's edge when suddenly, giant black tufts of hair floated by on the water's surface. "THAR SHE BLOWS!!!!" Rusell cried. We laughed and laughed. Our neighbors were mystified about where all the black hair came from. The good thing was that it didn't stick to their fishing line like cottonwood does.

One thing that is great is this strange roller vacuum thing I have. A few years ago I bought this cheap vacuum and it came with this bizarre looking bruch roller vacuum that is basically a stick with wheels and a revolving brush that you tip upside down to empty. It doesnt plug in or anything, just the wheels moving turns the revolving brush. Anyways, I had never used the silly thing in 2 years until I got our newf a month ago and let me tell you....the thing is awesome. I have it sitting right out in the open and whenever i stroll through the room i just do a quick roll roll roll and it sucks up that black hair out of the berber carpet clean as a whistle. The only downside is I am constantly plucking the hair out of the roller.

When we got Brady I got a new "Oreck" as well. I think I will take stock out in vacuum cleaner bags.....I read somewhere that once you live with a newf you will never again serve food without at least 1 black hair in it. So far it has come true....

He-he-he-heeee, I love that picture!

There should be a use for all of that hair some where in this world.
I have a quick question, Emily is nine months old, we are done with shedding out the puppy coat. Now she has a wavy thick
coat, but it does not seem to be growing very long. Is this just because of her age, or is it because of the summer weather?

Elizabeth,

That is so funny! I'm still laughing! I'm so glad I didn't see that before I got a newf, but in reality, I guess it still wouldn't have stopped me. I haven't had that much with mine up to this point. I just love that picture!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Love the photo!! It should be given to every person trying to decide if a newf is for them--add a few slobbers on the lens and it would be perfect!!

Oh, but there is a use for all that fur!
The women in my spinners guild use their dog's fur mixed in with their wool to make the family sweaters with their pet's fur in it. I used to save my goldens fur for spinning, now I have quite a selection! gold/white, brown, and black.
