Grooming tables?

Do you use one to groom your newts? If so, how high are they and how big are they?

If you don't use a grooming table, what do you use, if anything?

I'm asking because Raleigh has now decided that the table is too small/high for him so he's avoiding it :( We're trying to look at what other options we have, it's just so much easier to tidy him up when he's on the table!

Thanks to anyone who replies!

My table was built by myself and my Dad many years ago using plywood, banquet table legs cut to size and non slip matting glued and stapled on. It's 24"w x 48"l x 24"h.
I will always treasure it since my Dad has passed away.

Just snapped these for you, Misha wanted to be the model :) Please excuse the hairy carpet LOL! I just ordered a grooming arm since Misha is a wiggle worm.

Here's the grooming arm I just ordered from Pet Edge. Secures pup to table :) Remember never walk away though!

due to ortho issues I tend to have a good quality rubber mat with padding for me and I do all of mine with me sitting next to them on the floor

am always worried about them falling of a table

Thanks for that, Elizabeth!

And thanks for your input too, Victoria. A good rubber mat is now on the shopping list!

Grooming table with new arm. Since Misha is such a wiggle worm she slides a bit much on the surface. So I bought a yoga mat and clamped it down. Worked perfect. :)

I'm sure this is a silly question but... the low grooming tables look too low to be useful, but how do you get such a large dog onto a high table? And then off again?

I'm not sure what you consider to be too low? Mine is what I consider to be low at 24". It's very useful. I can sit on a chair if I need to be lower, or stand.
You could get a hydraulic taller one for lifting or lift the dog yourself. Some dogs put their front feet on and you pick up the rear. And lift them down I suppose.

Thanks for the suggestion, Elizabeth. The hydraulic ones weren't nearly as expensive as I had imagined they would be. I might have to put one on my Christmas list... :groovy:

We have a Table from Champagne http://www.champagnetables.com/ They will make it too any height you want. Most tables for Newfoundland's are 24 inches high. You take and adult newf that is about 28 inches at sholders, that makes 52 inches from ground. I am 5' 8"(68 ") puts dog up there.
