Shouldn't have waited so long. Finally got it down to between PetPlan vs. PetsBest. I had VPI for years on my berner who has been gone for almost 3 years.....I swear, I'd never touch them again. (had the hardest time to get them to cancel the policy after the dog DIED, for pete's sake!)

I decided to go with PetsBest. Hope I won't be crushed, but dealing with insurance companies....usually DOES crush me! :icon_stupid:

That is the truth! I had VPI for years, and I thought they were terrible! I am now with
Embrace, because I use an holistic vet. However, everything seems to be "pre-existing" so I wonder, what do they pay?

But, I want to have insurance only because these guys do have incidences of cancer.

Yes, it's an issue. And ppl like me, waiting until my boy is 5 to get insurance, doesn't help. But he's a healthy guy, except for yeasty ears and hot spots, which we battle as he ages. It was the same w the BMDs. Even now, I feed him 80% of a homecooked diet to keep away from allergies, and while it's helping Big Time, I still get one or two each year. So of course, the insurance isn't going to cover that. Just hope it will deal with any issues as he ages that have to do with movement while he's still healthy!

Such a great idea!

When we got Moosh in May I signed up for insurance but my husband asked me to cancel it because he didn't get why it was so expensive.
Four months later and she is diagnosed with OCD in her right shoulder. $$ for surgery, diagnosis and specialist could have been helped if we'd kept the insurance.

Although that condition is not covered for her anymore, we signed up for insurance. Just in case something else comes up.
