Can someone point me in the right direction, we need to
buy some Frontline Spot On for Fleas and Ticks and some
Drontal Plus XL for Tapeworm prevention.

We are in France at Easter then again in August so need some
to supply the French Vet to Administer to Hagrid so that he can
return back into the UK.

I would like a USA supplier. I can get them delivered state
side as a friend visits regular and has a delivery address in OH.

They are soooooo dear in the UK both online and at the Vets.

I use Entirely Pets for flea meds. I have never heard of putting a dog on tapeworm
prevention. The vets in my area stopped selling frontline because it does not work.
They sell advantage , advantix, and a new one that I've used but can't think if it's name. Since switching to advantage I only apply it twice a year!

Thanks- For entry into UK from France they have to be administered the
Tapeworm Tablet together with the Flea and Tick capsule by a Vet in France.

It's a chore that must be done and the French Vets vary in price up near Calais
they charge up to £70 for their time and that is with you providing the tablets etc

Our Cottage is in the Correze and last year we only paid our local Vet £5.

I get Drontal for my cats from kvsupply.com
For some reason the cat formula doesn't need a prescription, but the dog formula does. It is an expensive drug!

The tapeworm pill is to rid the dogs of tapeworms. They come from the dog eating a flea...on anything. Doesn't have to be on him. LOL There's not a preventative for it.

We use Frontline Plus, but I don't know what it's called in Europe.

Can't the Vet sell you a tube of Frontline and give you a Drontal (or Droncit...same thing) pill? That's easier than buying a bunch at once if you don't want to do that. Drontal/Droncit is very expensive. I dose once every six months.

Oh...and a big dog takes several Drontal pills at once (it's dosed per weight). I think you need a Rx for it. You do here...but not everywhere.

I'd get it from the cheaper Vet if you can. Here we can get Frontline Plus anywhere...even PetSmart. Not so for the Drontal. But our dogs don't need a visit to get it. I just walk in and ask for it. Sometimes what you're paying the most for is their time.

For us (Belgium), it's cheaper and easier to buy them off the vet, especially the Drontal (doesn't give pills, but an injection). Our vet usually charges around 45 euros for two newfs (includes deworming) and we usually bring our own Frontline. You can buy Drontal AND Frontline from the pharmacy in France. It's not too expensive.

With Frontline it's probably best to get it from a vet (here in the States if you know a really good one) because some of the online places are selling "knock-offs". I purchased cat frontline online (don't remember where), and one box had tubes which were only 1/4 dose in them. I bought two boxes, one had full dose and the other far less, otherwise both boxes were identical. One box was shipped from S. Africa, the other from UK. I had ordered them here in the US. The cats still got ticks, so who knows what was really in the tubes. After that, I only get Frontline from my vet, even if I have to pay more, and I am sure to ask where he gets it.

I am going to contact our local vet in France she is very professional and
the price will be reasonable.

It will save me messing about with Online suppliers and delivery and as
mentioned some of the overseas suppliers may be a bit 'iffy'.

Nice to get other peoples prospective on these topics.

My sister moved from Portugal to Isle of Wight some years ago with 2 dogs and 6 cats and had to stop in Boulogne for a vet to do the Frontal etc stuff, I'm pretty sure the vet there supplied it.
(3 mths later they all returned to Portugal!!!)
