Today my sister Helped my moms Dauchsy to cross over the bridge. She was diagnosed with cancer a little over a month ago. The vet was certain it was in her lymphnodes and there was nothing that could be done. Freddie spent her last days sleeping on her bed, surfin the kitchen floor for missfallen treats and sleeping in the sun with the breezes of the strait of Jaun de fuca blowing through her fur.
After a very bad weekend (details aside) she said good bye to mom and dad as she hopped into Julies car where she fell asleep on the front seat. She barely woke up as she was carried into the vets office and finally got to find rest and peace.
Her ashes will be brought home next week where she will be placed to rest in my parents back yard where the sun will shine and the sea breaze will flow for as long as time goes by
Freddie, we will miss you and your comedic ways allways one to get a laugh. Look for Beau and Max, theyu will show you the way. We love you.

AWWWWWWW! At least now Freddie can really enjoy the breeze.
I could almost "see" her in her last few days, as you described them.
It's always so hard to "lose" a dog.

So sorry to hear about Freddie - Dachsies are so animated, so comedic, and so loving. They have the hearts of a Newf...

Hugs to all of your family!

Oh Gwyn, what a lovely tribute. I hope your family's pain and grief soon passes and allows them to focus on the many good years and memories.

Sounds like she was/is much loved and will have playmates to show her the way. What a loving tribute you wrote....
