Well, I am going to foster another newf for rescue. This one year old boy should be arriving here Friday or Saturday, most likely Saturday. I get to be mommy to another newf for a while. :D (not that three isn't enough!!)

Good for you, Jeannie! You will have to tell us all about him when he comes. Just remember to save some room for the pup that is somewhere in your future!

Annie,
Mary B is picking him up in Evansville tranfer to Tammy H who will meet me between Richmond and Indy. (I figure you know these SCNC members)

Oh I have not forgotten about my FUTURE pup. I am only fostering this guy til he gets his forever home. My next newf will be a PUPPY. You can "read my lips" on that one :D

That must be so special to be able to do that. I imagine it is very hard to foster when it comes time to give him up when a home is found. But knowing he will have a happy future is even more rewarding. Can't wait to hear more about him

I pick the boy up tomorrow at 10:30 A.M. Yes, it is hard to give them up, but knowing they are going to a GOOD forever home makes it easier. Plus I have the final say as to whether I think it is a good match or not, so that helps. Never the less it is a bitter sweet moment when they leave.

Trust me when I tell you after two wks this will be just like any other foster.Jeannie will start slowly begging and then she will resort to groveling at my feet to keep this newf but of couse I will have to be the strong one and say no that three newfs is already to many!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gary

sure Gary. Right. Whatever you say.
Jeannie, don't even bother looking for a forever home for this foster. He won't be going anywhere if Gary is anything like my husband. He was complaining a couple months ago that 6 dogs were too many and for us not to get any ideas about Robbie the puppy staying. Robbie goes. Period. Subject closed. So who is it that constantly has Robbie on the couch even tho hubby insists no dogs on the furniture? And it's not just Robbie who's allowed on the furniture- maybe this "rule" is for the neighbors' dogs? Can't possibly be our dogs since they all take turns on the couch in the evening. And who said it was too cold for Robbie to be outside yesterday and then brought Robbie inside? And who gets greeted first when hubby comes home from work? Not me but Robbie.
Big bad husbands who are all talk. ;)

Yea, he said the same thing when Izzy came. He then changed his mind and wanted to keep her, but since we were living at two homes we could not. Let's just wait and see. I will let everyone know when he changes his mind. But if I get another rescue, I will NEVER get a pup!!

Gary!!! Just think of it... if this boy fits in with your girls, you could have another "man" in the house. Russell was so happy when Sailor came to live with us... It's still 3 to 2 though... girls rule!!! ;)

Bear has arrived!! He was afraid of our girls but only took about 5 minutes any they were running around and playing in the pond. Bear is a handsome fellow. He is still very much a puppy--he is 13 months old. He is a gangly teenager, long legs and all. But he will be really nice when he grows up. First thing is to get some weight off him. He is a good 15-20 lbs too heavy. He was being fed 6 cups of food a day. Way too much for a boy laying around in the back yard. I did talk to the previous owner. Seems she has never given him heartworm preventative and is not sure if her vet gave him the 6 month shot or not. (in fact she said "what is that") He was tested for heartworms in Feb, if he had the shot it was good till August. Let's hope for the best. I have a vet appointment for him Monday. And he is scheduled in at the "groomer's" this week too!! :D I will post photos soon. Hopefully tomorrow. I was going to take some today, but he was so stressed I was sure I would not get a good shot of him. OH he has attached himself to Gary. Follows him everywhere.

Annie and ROM Newf,

oh how right you are. Bear is in real need of a bath. We agreed to keep him in the kennel till I bathed him on Monday. This would give him some time to adjust without having to worry of our house being distroyed. (The previous owner said he will get into mischief when in the house--he was kept outside all the time) Anyway keeping him in the kennel in not like he is locked away, He is only there when we are sleeping or gone other-wise he is in the yard with our newfs or with Gary and the girls in his workshop. Well today, less than 24 hours, after Bear's arrival Gary brought him into the house "Just for a little bit" Well he was in the house while I finished making lunch, while we ate and while I cleaned up the kitchen and watched some TV. Is this male bonding or what???? We then took all 4 for a walk in the park. What a sight that was AND the people starring at us. I bet they think we are crazy having 4 newfs. Gary walked Bear (and Samantha--I had Sara and Panda)and he was the perfect gentleman. We started with the gentle leader on him but took it off in no time. I still have to get photos....hopefully tomorrow.

Bear came through his vet appointment with flying colors. NO heart worms!!! Now just a bit of training and he can find a forever home.

I just want all of you to know that this was not male bonding between Bear and I.I felt sorry for him being out there with all those other women. He had been through enough of an ordeal without listening to three female newfs harping on him and wanting his body.He was running for his life.Gary
