hi. Have not been around since I rehomed my newf but have been fostering for the local SPCA.mostly kittens but I have 5 pups found in a dumpster (four dead) when they were less than a day old. now 13 days old and commercial formula is working out to $6.50 a day. wonder if anyone has a home formula that would be suitable? not sure what these dogs are but are all over two pounds and eyes not even open yet. thanks to anyone who has any comments.

You really are a noble soul for taking care of this pup, but what are you feeding the pups that is coming out to $6.50 per day? Is it a special formula? I'm sure if you call your vet, they would be able to recommend a more economical substitute. Would baby formula work? That is just a suggestion off the top of my head since I really don't know, but may be worth a try. Good luck to you and your pups. You did a good thing for your newf and now these pups, so I am sure good will come to you one day soon.

I have heard of people using this for puppies. You can try to see if it works for you.

1 can Pet brand condensed milk
1 can water
2 egg yolks (broken and strained from sac)
1 Tablespoon Karo syrup

Newfyork, in answer to your query I have five puppies and am using a product called Puppy Milk which is a milk replacer for puppies. is a powder that mixes with water.
feeding 6-7 times a day, at 4-5 oz every feeding. One tin cost 12.00 + tax and last two days. I have been told to try goats milk but a vet site on the net said no. I have found a home formula very similar to the one here and will have to try them.
Thanks as usual to everyone.
