FOOD for OC GTG

On Oct. 1 I'd like to start arranging the dinners for the OC GTG. We will be having two pot lucks, one on Friday and one on Saturday (people bring food to one or the other). The Windjammer has kitchens, so people staying there can cook or heat up food, bring crockpots, etc., and people driving in or staying at other facilities can bring paper goods, condiments, breads, pickles, olives, and sides or snacks which can be picked up at the store. On Oct. 1 we'll start arranging who will bring entrees, breads, salads, and desserts. So if anyone has a specialty or food allergy, feel free to PM me asap so we can get the ball rolling. I'd like to have the plan finalized by Oct. 15th, to give everyone time to prepare!

What I need to know now is what people can bring, so please reply with your name, NN name, and preference for what you would like to bring/or make. Feel free to reply by PM or in this thread. Also, if you have any food allergies, please let us know!

In addition, Suse and I will be planning out a breakfast for Saturday morning. Sue and I will bring continental-style breakfast foods. We'll cover more about that later, I'd like to keep this thread just for the potluck info.

We'll participate.. I normally get cup cake duty every year, but I can help with almost anything you wish if you need something else :).. no real allergies of issue

If you want to start a head count also to know quantities.. we will have 2 adults and 2 children attending this year.

And I totally forgot to reply, bringing one adult ( me ) two kids, and one Newf.

I can do anything, last year I brought bbq beef. Just please don't ask me to do anything remotely related to hamburger meat. It makes me nauseous. :D

Food for OC

I would love to make a Pasta Bolognese...it is loaded with meat and delicious. My husband Dan will make some homemade rolls or bread....will that work?
Also let me know what night you would like it for...I could also make a tossed salad to go with it if it helps.

Brownies, cupcakes, Texas Caviar, and Pasta Bolognese sound perfect! As I hear from the rest of the group, I'll be able to set up a schedule and post it here so everyone will know what/when/where, etc. I can't wait!

We will have 2 people and one Newf, no allergies or food restrictions. Clifford (Newf) doesn't like raw vegetables, but loves all other food, cardboard, tissues, plastic food containers, etc.
I could bring a salad, maybe brocolli salad. If there is something you would rather we bring let me know. It will have to be something we can buy ingredients for there and make. We are coming in on Thursday so it doesn't matter what night we make stuff for.

There are plenty of grocery stores there. LOL And you'll have a full kitchen, so you can "assemble" whatever you're making there instead of hauling it from home.

Remember though, if you're providing for Friday's meal, you probably won't have much time before the hungry masses arrive. Actually we don't start eating Fri until around 7ish. Saturday it's earlier....around 5.

Finger food is good too, since we also nibble all day Saturday. :)

Since we are expanding the food to 2 nights this year, I wanted to clarify. Are we to:
1- Bring one food that will be used for Friday and Sat or
2- Are we to bring a food for each night?

Thnks :)

Michelle, we are having people bring a dish for only one night. We always have so much food left over, and people can't haul it all back so much gets thrown out. Since everyone brings something, we are breaking it down into two days, which will hopefully mean less waste. To answer your question, just bring a dish for one night, if you have a preference for which night, let me know, otherwise I'll be assigning everyone a night.

We know that some people do not cook, and have in the past brought KFC or pizza, so that is fine, too, just let me know.

Anyone who doesn't want to participate in the potlucks, also please let me know. You'll have the abilitiy to cook for yourself or go out to eat, but you'll miss out on the fun!

I can make some homemade "gourmet" pizzas - one with meat (sausages), one without. If possible, I would prefer to do this for Saturday night since I am driving in. We have not figured out who is coming with me. I may be solo (with Haley, of course).
