Flea and Tick prevention??

Cinder has been on Frontline for years and we have never had a problem and it has protected him. This year I have pulled 4 ticks off of him all attached to his face. So we would like to try something new. Our vet sold my hubby and an oral chewable called NexGard (afoxolaner) and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about it. If anyone is using it and has it worked if you are using it?? Thanks much, Judy

I have heard about it but don't know personally as I never use newly approved medications with my gang. We've been using K9 Advantix for years now and it's still working fine. We live in tick central here in southeast Virginia and a lot of people had to switch from Frontline too. Sorry I can't be more help.

I have used it for 3 months now. Haven't seen any ticks or fleas. She did have loose stools the first dose, but because we just got her and everything was new, I can't say that was the cause of the problem. It is definitely much easier than trying to apply it to her skin. I think you can buy a single dose. Maybe try that until you commit to a 3 or 6 month supply and see how it works for you and see if your dog has any side effects.

We are having the worst luck with ticks. We have used Front line for years and in the past 2 years it has quit working. We tried Advantix at the beginning of the spring and it did not seem to work well either. We have since been using Adam's flea dip after baths and then 3 -4 weeks later using Adams Spot on treatment. We have only used it for 2 months but it is working better than the other 2. The Newf and 4 goldens have had no ticks but Rebel the 5th golden seems to get tick no matter what we do. I don't understand it as he is not left to roam and does not go other places that the others do not. I hope the new stuff works for you, please keep us posted!

I don't like giving internal for flea/tick. I'm reading stuff don't like reactions. I'll pass on it too. Info states only dog ticks and there's other's like deer, etc. that need cross the board protection against.

I went all holistic this year, not one flea or tick all season!

This is the DE mixture I bought:

I do essential oils on the collar (and on my own belt to prevent mosquitos), DE mixture in her coat and on her bedding, ACV with her dinner, and a lemon infusion spray in key areas if we go somewhere particularly wooded. My roommate's dog is on Advantix II and still picked up a few ticks (and I suspect fleas). Admiral and I are much more active and she's been flea/tick free on this regimen.
