Feeding

Hi, I was looking for advise. I don't feel this is Vet material but... Akira stopped eating yesterday morning. Has not eaten for 2 days.
Does everyone soak the food in water, I tested to see if she would eat anything. I soaked her food and fed her unsoaked yet she preferred dry food. It was gone in seconds. Is there a reason the breader and vet said to soak? ?? ?? ? ?

Akira is 8 mths old. I had the feeding instruction from the breeder hanging on the fridge. It fell off and my goofy girl chewed it. I thought it said I was always suppose to soak the food. I have also heard that dry food is better for their teeth so being she is not eating when I soak it I don't know if it is ok to feed it dry ? ? ?

a kibble education.
many kibble out there will swell when soaked for 35 minutes in hot or warm water, try it with the kibble you have, set it aside, and than watch the amount it swells, many kinds will triple quad in size.
a lot of people are of the opinion that soaking the kibble ahead of time will prevent bloat.
i am not so sure.
i am of the opinion to feed a brand that barely swells when soaked and crumbles to bits when soaked for the 35 minutes, the brand i prefer is the Wysong the Synorgen brand.
i used to feed proplan, until my male puked it up after it sitting and fermenting in his belly for 9 hours, and it came up in whole spongy undigested pieces. not healthy in my opinion.
so the reasoning for the soaking?
most likey it is that supposedly it makes a hard to digest food to begin with, more digestable, wich i find hard to believe.
do what works for you. ;)

Rory is 7 1/2 mo old and eats her kibble dry with no problems. The breeder may have meant to just soak it in the beginning. It would seem that Akira is telling you that she likes it dry.

I agree with Lynn on the dry kibble. I only soaked Kodi's when he was a puppy.
