Avlon is 9 yrs old and has been on grain free food and treats for the last 7 yrs. She gets fish oil or salmon oil 2000mg a day and her coat is still dry? I really noticed over the past 6 months.

She did have an infected paw from salt (ice melt) being on some of the neighbors sidewalks back in Jan. 10 days of prednisone cleared that up. She has been bathed once in Jan and once in Feb with Mane and Tale Protect shampoo. That seems to help but only last like a week or so? I had her blood work done and it all came back normal. I have a humidifier on my furnace / heating system to allow 30 % humidity in my house during the winter. I recently switched her from TOTW High Prairie to the Pacific Stream. Pacific Stream does not contain chicken meal.

I have read some folks use a 50 / 50 mix of water and ACV to help to keep yeast down? Do you apply this daily? Should I use a conditioner next time i bathe her? I have on hand, Ice on Ice, Mane and Tale Conditioner and Chris Christensen. I am open to any suggestions !!!

Thanks Ant

Have you tried coconut oil in her food to see if that helps.

I always use a conditioner after a bath, also did you dry really well after the bath.
Sometimes they feel dry but after a few minutes the coat feels damp again so another blast.

Maybe add tea tree to the shampoo? But don't let the dog eat it. S. Boullardi is a probiotic that humans use that "eats yeast for lunch". Maybe add some to the meal or kefir or other fermented food with live cultures? I'd also check the ingredients of the foods to see if the dog is reactng to a filler, chemical ...
