Awesome news, NN'ers!!

I just found out today that UNH offers a dog grooming class as well as an animal science degree...

http://www.thompsonschool.unh.edu/aas/grooming-diploma

And if you click here .. http://www.unh.edu/tsasgrooming/albums.html and go to some of the photo albums, there are some Newfies on there!!... :)

Oh, boy, I am SO excited!!!...

It's $45 to apply directly to UNH or only $25 to apply to the Thompson School and from there I think you can just roll your credits over to the program at UNH...either way, I'm going to start with the grooming and the other required courses....

So, this is an exciting thing for me...It's certainly going to help me reach my goal of becoming a dog groomer and vet technician!!...

And from there, I know many other doors will be available to me...

Wish me luck!!...and, if anyone here that lives "close by" would be willing to let me practice bathing or brushing their dogs to begin with...I'd welcome the experience...and simply ask for your patience with me as I'd still be just a beginner... :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Hi Angela,

Ohhh...I think my first post wasn't extremely clear?...

I was just sharing the exciting news that I found out that I can take college classes for grooming...I'm not a groomer (yet?...) And I just said I wouldn't mind practicing on folks' dogs...But I don't have a business of any sort...and wouldn't really want to do much besides bathe & brush people's dogs until I took the introductory course anyhow...I was just talking about wanting practice after I have nad some experience in the classes...

The University of New Hampshire offers a whole Applied Animal Science class as well as a 4 year pre-vet degree...I'm going to look into the grooming course over the summer and then see where I want to go from there for the fall...

I'm not sure if I want to pursue going into business for myself having a kennel & grooming business or if I want to look into opening a doggy day care...or if I want to work in the animal medical field...That's what I'll hopefully figure out after taking this basic grooming course...It's one way to determine if I really want to groom...Or if I'd prefer something else working with the animals...Like having a kennel/doggy day care...or working as a vet tech. or something like that...

Anyhow, I'm just really excited about this next step in my life... :)

Great for you!
Thanks! It's something I've been thinking about doing for a while...so it's exciting to see that there's a program...My cousin actually took the same grroming courses, just so she could get a feel for it....she is encouraging me to pursue this avenue...

I think she finally got her degree in nutrition or something like that...But she took the grooming class for "fun"...she's an animal lover as am I...I'm glad she understands me... Ha ha ha!!...
