Direct Buy?

Has anyone been to one of these stores? I've been seeing commercials about them, and got curious. They carry kitchen cabinets, furniture, and stuff that they claim are much cheaper than going to a regular store to buy them. They're supposed to be first runs...not scratch and dent, so I'm really curious to see if anyone has been to one, or bought stuff there.

I'm also curious what their membership fee is! We'll be remodeling the kitchen sometime (not anytime soon!), but if it's worth going to one, I'll go check the place out. We have lots of other projects that need to be done before we tackle the kitchen!

Hey Kelly,
We are in the process of building our house. We too wanted to know this info. Now mind you the answer we received was from the Gen. Contractor, who I am sure gets some kind of perk from the distributors he does business with, but he told us that the cost for your membership per year does NOT balance out the type of savings that people think they are getting. Also he said that he has not seen the COST difference to be much different. Just his perspective. We have not ventured into checking it out personally.

The membership fee is sky high; Something like $1500 for 2 yrs. Unless your going to do a LOAD of high end purchasing, it's not worth your money.
Pawsx2, I also agree with the contractor, perhaps in some cases (the ones they sell you with) but absolutely not on the majority of items.

WOW! I'm thinking for $1500 I can buy quite a few cabinets and not worry about the markup I'm paying! LOL I only have ONE kitchen to redo...well, actually the whole house...but $1500 goes a long way when you have a husband that does the labor!
