Deer antler chews....

I have a friend who gives elk antler chews to his Irish wolfhound. The dog loves them & they apparently carry no/very low disease risk.

I cut some pieces from a rack my neighbor gave me. Snuffles will pick it up and chew a few seconds. But Snuffles is not a chewer really. I get the same reaction to rawhide too.

Now when my next door neighbor"s grandson was here at Christmas time with his pit bull, Diggs was turning the piece I gave her into a powder. :)

Deer antler chews are the only chew we can give Darcy because of her Inflammatory Bowel Disease (she can only eat venison and sweet potato). All of our dogs chew on them occasionally, but I think because they are hard to "destroy" they do lose interest in them after a few minutes. At least they don't leave a mess!

If you get them, make sure they are very long in length because I once noticed Darcy having a hard time closing her mouth and found that one was stuck in her mouth!!

Lena LOVES her two deer antler chews. They are quite large in size (greater than 6") and she will chew on them for a while, leave them on the floor, then come back to them later. They last FOREVER. She has had both of hers for over three months, and while you can see them slooooowly shrinking, they don't break apart or splinter. She chews them off and on and always picks them up and carries them around with her. It's the only chew I can give her where I know her puppy enthusiasm won't result in her destroying it and consuming it. They're virtually indestructible! I am 100% satisfied with mine and will definitely buy them for her again.

well finally the stag bars arrived today! so far the newfs love them!! Rory my shih tzu loves his and he is not a chewer!! Mollymoobin couldn't care less about hers but she also doesn't usually like to chew! will see how long they last now! Jorge is my strongest chewer and has managed to get to the marrow already on one of them! :)

I just bought some for my dogs yesterday!! My boxer/shepherd mix has already gotten a piece off, but duncan is doing great! He is not a big chewer but has chewed this for a long time! I will definitely be getting more in the future! Where did you order from?

Mine like them, and they look like new after about a year! I recently found some good thick split ones with the marrow exposed and they looooove them. Those are clearly not going to last more than a month or so!

Enjoy Jorge, Stanley and crew!
