Dead battery

Last night heading out for dinner got to the car and the battery was dead. Pretty cold here, must have been the weather. Planned to call AAA in the a.m. since we were expecting a low of -8. Morning dawns and we can't reach AAA. Apparently their phone line was out. So we waited and kept trying and finally many hours later connected. The nice man in the truck with the charger came and gave us a jump. Took the car to the mechanic for a check and he said, "wasn't the cold that killed your battery." Nope? "Dog musta' bumped the ceiling light switch back there. Yep, light's been on for a day or so and sucked the juice right outta' that battery." :shocker: Thanks Zeus. Down boy. Dammit, lay down!

It's happened to me. And it almost happened another time too, but I noticed (in the middle of the night) that the dome light seemed to be on. It was.

When I purchased my CRV, the salesperson was going over the car and showed me the back light. He turned the back light off for that reason! Apparently, unknowingly leaving the light on has been a common occurrence.

I swear the light in the back of my car is permanently on. Its one of those rocker type lights that is flush with the roof unless you push one side of it to turn on. If its off Bear turns it on with his head every time he is back there. Thankfully the courtesy lights in my VW all go out after a period of time with the key off. The good thing is I don't need to ever switch it off! When the switch is turned on the light will stay off until you switch it off and on again. The perplexing part is; when its off its flush with the roof and when its on one side protrudes down. He will switch it on but never off. Big goof ball:crazy:
