Just as with human curly hair.. mist, blow dry with brush, and just keep brushing and drying till u get the look u want. I\m sure our groomers will explain better than I.
Just as Nasus said. Except I use a comb, I hold the nozzle almost parallel to the back and behind the comb. You have to continue until the fur is bone dry.
I found with Molly's "hips", which tend to wave upwards, using some Show Sheen while blowing dry in the direction the hair grows, helps to settle it down a lot...and it stays until mist or water hits it, then up it curls again!
I recommend using a 1 inch round brush with short plastic teeth. Start drying the fur a little to get most of the excess water out of the coat. Apply your coat dressing(ie:voulume creame, super coat) whatever you decide to use. You should always use a product before drying. It helps the grooming tools glide through the fur. When using the brush go diagnal from side to side and then straight back. You are creating lift at the root, but also making the hair straight from all directions. This is how we do it with Humans!! LOL Good luck...
Using a brush and dryer, as mentioned, will straighten the coat for the show. If the hair is wavy after drying, then you are not getting the coat dry enough.
When we were at the PS grooming seminar, she was grooming a Newf that had curls. She said to blow the curls dry with constant combing while blow drying until the fur appears to be gray, then do it some more.
Yep - Iz has very curly hair at about 9 months old. I used a fine tooth comb and pulled tightly as I dried. It was exhausting - but it worked. I also used a product from Chris Christensen (comes in a jar - can't remember the name) that would help straighten as it dried.
