Conjunctivitis

Griffin came down with conjuctivitis about 2 weeks ago. The vet suggested putting ointment in his eyes for 10 days. It's been 12 days since I started giving him ointment and the eye weeping has stopped, but his eyes still appear to be red at times. His eyes aren't red constantly, sometimes they appear fine, while a few hours later they are back to red, which has me the most confused. Griffin's vet is out of the office today and tomorrow and the vet tech didn't have much advice for me. He's not squinting or scratching his eyes; they don't appear to bother him at all. I told her I'd keep him on the ointment for a few more days and call back if there still is no change. Any experience in this area?

What's the possiblities of any allergies? My guys eye have been weeping lately, it seems to happen certain times of the year. Just a thought for ya.

What's funny is when I open the windows and the cat jumps up, his eyes get red and his 3rd eyelid gets swollen and red, I assume it's the pollen in the window frame that sets it off.
