Chobani Yogurt endorsement

So I think Baloo should do a commercial for Chobani yogurt. I had heard it was really good so I brought some. I have to say it is quite yummy! I Took it out and Baloo was excited before I opened the wrapper--could he really smell that yogurt?? Anyway I put some in a bowl for me and gave him the rest in the container as it is a short and wide container and rested it in his dish.(I had just washed his dish and didn't want to do it again) He was making this noise while he ate it that was definitely a "mom, I'm in true food bliss heaven" and he almost licked the plastic off...:D

I like that stuff too. At first I didn't much like the Greek yogurts, but they grew on me. I can see why a dog would love it too...it's sort of like peanut butter in the way it sticks to their mouth, which helps the experience last longer! You should try some of the Australian yogurts too...again, a different texture, but still quite yummy!

Oh I wish we had Whole Foods here!! I haven't heard of Jewel.
I haven't seen that brand, Michelle, but my shopping choices are even more limited than yours! I do enjoy some Greek yogurts, but not all.

Hey Becky, you can get the chobani at Sams pretty reasonable in a case like pkg, but to try it I'd buy it singly first from wally. The honey one is not good and I like honey;D The fruit flavors rock--strawberry, peach, blueberry. What I like is that it is 6oz for 130 cals and it has 14 grams of protein which is double other yogurts, without all the artificial sweetner. If I eat that for breakfast with a piece of multigrain diet sara lee I am good to go to lunch with no problems. Baloo totally freaks when I get this out, I wish you could see him, his big'ol bum just wiggles side to side strings of drool start---keep in mind this dog does not do this for meat, but yogurt, nectarines, watermelon, squash it's a lake;D LOL...

Ah, maybe that is why I haven't noticed it at Sam's before...I don't care for flavored yogurt, only plain. Yeh, I'm boring. ;)
But I'll check Walmart to see if they have any plain stuff.

Actually, Sam's carries big containers of the plain and individual sized cups of the flavored. But the big containers are on the ends instead of placed with the other yogurt. Maybe why you haven't seen it.

Cool! I will be traveling this weekend to a town that actually has "real" stores, so I will be sure to check out Sam's for this! Gotta love livin' in the middle of no where. ;)

I buy the plain Chobani, in the 32 oz. package. If I want a little "sweet" in it, I add a teaspoon or so of seedless raspberry preserves to a cup of the yogurt. :)

We can buy that almost anywhere...Food Lion, Martin's, Walmart, etc.

Greek yogurt has more of the whey strained from it - thus the thicker texture. You can do this yourself with any regular yogurt - nonfat, lowfat, fullfat.... I have a little gadget called a yogurt strainer (nylon mesh lined funnel), but a clean piece of cotton muslin, a cotton dishtowel, or even a coffee filter will work. Just line a strainer or a colander with the filter, place over a container to catch the whey, and place in the fridge. Let it drain until you get the consistency you like (you can even make yogurt cheese which is like cream cheese). Much less expensive if you are going to eat a lot of yogurt. I like Stoneyfield lowfat plain, then add a little honey or maple syrup and some scraped vanilla bean. Top with fresh fruit....YUM!

Hockey newf--that sounds delicious, my mom suggested I do this too;D she does the plain and mixes dried herbs in for dipping veggies and dry pitas. Now that i know it comes in big containers like Laurel said, I will be buying those instead and adding my mom's home made rhubarb-strawberry and rhubarb-blueberry-strawberry preserves to them--yummy. Baloo seriously would eat a container that big--I will have to limit him our I'll have the "Mitchellin Tire Man" for a newf;D

Rhubarb preserves and yogurt - YES! I had forgotten about this, but there is a roasted rhubarb compote recipe on chow.com that I made last year and was fantastic stirred into the yogurt. Ate WAY too much of that, although better in the yogurt than on the scones with clotted cream.
